I know very little about lie detector tests but I have read that there are physiological changes like sweaty hands and increased heart rate etc when people lie. 45 years ago an angry, drunk man ran out in front of my car after being expelled from a pub. I performed CPR until the ambulance arrived but he died 3 hours later in hospital. My son was born 2 months later in the same hospital that his grandson was born in a day apart. I discovered this when I heard my newborn crying in the nursery and went in to change him. While in there, I changed other crying babies, and saw the surname of the man who died on the baby’s crib. The smell of beer or vomit or blood, people jaywalking, changing a baby’s nappy today can all unexpectedly send me into a panic attack. I sweat, breathing and heart rate increases, I feel weak and disoriented. I doubt I could pass a lie detector test if asked about this event. My point is, that remembering traumatic events - like a baby being smothered accidentally or a man dying after being hit by your car - could generate similar physiological responses as a lie. Aside from the actual event, which is traumatic enough, there could be a feeling of guilt. When asked at the inquest if there was anything I could have done to avoid the accident I responded that if I’d just left my mother’s house a few minutes earlier or later, that poor man would have welcomed his grandson into the world. His daughter would have had his love and support. How can these tests be so accurate? A psychopath or sociopath would clearly pass these tests even after committing the most horrendous crimes. They just don’t have a conscience! I have a lot of doubt at the accuracy of these tests based on my own life experiences.
@yourdarkestfears11342 жыл бұрын
Yes. I had to give cpr to an old lady neighbor that had vomit in her mouth I had to scoop it out and give cpr I gave cpr for so long that I was completely wore out She didn't live. Now the smell gives me flashbacks 😫 and I get a panic attack if I think about having to give cpr again. I'd be scared theu won't live either I
@yourdarkestfears11342 жыл бұрын
Btw I watch every season of forensic files I've seen guilty people pass and innocent people fail these tests. Eye witness testimony can't be reliable either. The only thing that proved these ppl innocent was DNA evidence. For example there was one lady that was asleep and her home was broken into to. She was r@ped for hours and hours. Staring right into this man's eyes. Studying his face and trying to remember each detail. She was left for d€ad. But survived. She actually said it was her neighbor that had long hair a goatee and blue eyes. She picked him out of a line up and He failed the lie detector And he was arrested. The ONLY thing that saved him was DNA evidence that came in later. Come to find out it was another man that looked similar Long hair and a goatee. But not the same guy. The investigators then even said eye witness testimony is unreliable because stress can make people remember details wrong. And they say they only use the lie detectors to basically see if they should continue on with that lead, or turn somewhere else as well. So now sometimes I wonder if some of these people were actually telling the truth. If u watch the forensic files. U will see this time and time again
@saspredydious92952 жыл бұрын

The father was sleeping with the baby and caring for another child at the same time. The mother had left her newborn and couldn't be located even by law enforcement. This was when the baby was just 3 weeks old. Perhaps the father blamed himself and was so traumatised by his loss that he couldn't bring himself to be in his other daughter's life. Perhaps he had a crisis of confidence or felt that he might fail her or she could come to harm too. It's hard to allow ourselves to love and care for someone after losing a child. I think Steve was too hard on him. He even allowed the audience to interpret the inconclusive test result as something suspicious - which is unacceptable.
