People who say Waylon wasn’t a great guitar player need to watch this video. Those licks were pretty complex and he nailed them without missing a beat. GOAT
@kadeberrier379910 ай бұрын
Thing is, he isn't really playing. The hands aren't matching what is really being played. There's walk downs and ups that "his" guitar is making but his hands aren't doing them. He just miming someone else playing. Of course Waylon could really play though!
@travisowens860210 ай бұрын
@@kadeberrier3799 Yeah, I agree when he was playing Rhythm the little lead and walk down licks he wasn’t playing. But the solo on the second song I think he was actually playing. Because his hands actually matched what was being played, in my opinion.

No one says Waylon wasn’t a good guitarist at least not that I’ve heard. The man could definitely play with the best of em. Glen Campbell might’ve even been a little better

The network had Waylon change the lyrics of the last verse. Some gave Delia flowers Some gave her pearls from the sea But I didn't give Delia nothing Cause she belonged to me On the record he sings Some gave Delia a dollar Some gave her two or three But I didn't give Delia a penny Cause she belonged to me Based on the murder of Delia Green, December 25, 1900 in Savannah, Georgia. Delia Green was a 14-year-old African-American who has been identified as the likely inspiration for several well-known traditional American songs, usually known by the titles "Delia" or "Delia's Gone" or "Little Delia".

This is the same Delia that Johnny Cash sang about years later in Delia's Gone. Her murder inspired a lot of folk songs, but this the best version in my opinion.
@kadeberrier37994 жыл бұрын
Actually, Johnny did his first official cover of "Delia's Gone" in 1962. He did a few alternate takes of the song in late 1961 but kind of dropped the idea for another song

Waylon must have been listening to The House Of The Rising Sun when writing this one.

he didn't write it. it's an old bahamian folk song. george symonette recorded it in nassau in 1957 but it had been floating aorund for no one knows how long.

@@kellyaiken7601 The House of the Rising Sun goes back centuries, it's an old English folk song. Delia goes as far back at 1900 or so.

I do wonder if he had “House of the Rising Sun” in mind when he adapted this song, though. It certainly sounds similar. And different from the other versions of Delia I’ve heard.

Frank, I see your last name’s Hebner. I know that name from my childhood. My family and I lived in a place called Hebner Heights in my hometown a long time ago, 1960’s, I believe it was. Also, my dad a a baker and worked at a place next to our house called Hebner’s Bakery. I can’t even believe that I still remember this info after so many years, when I’ve forgotten so much more important stuff these days 🤔.
