You are right.I think so too. But...On our Trip through the South we had a stop at Baton Rouge and I reminded our group on that song. Our American guide (age 70) told us ,she never heard of it. I was speechless. So was the whole group.

Mind-blowing! 👉😍💓🌹 Lyrics: Busted flat in Baton Rouge, headin' for the trains, Feelin' nearly faded as my jeans. Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained, Took us all the way to New Orleans. Took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana And was blowin' sad while Bobby sang the blues, With them windshield wipers slappin' time and Bobby clappin' hands we finally sang up every song That driver knew. Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free, Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues, And buddy, that was good enough for me, Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee. From the coalmines of Kentucky to the California sun, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul, Standin' right beside me through everythin' I done, And every night she kept me from the cold. Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away, She was lookin' for the love I hope she'll find, Well, I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday, Holdin' Bobby's body close to mine. Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' left was all she left to me, Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues, And buddy, that was good enough for me. Good enough for me and Bobby McGee.

OMG!!! I’ve listened to Janis Joplin and Pink respectfully sing this song and now I found this version by Waylon Jennings... all so differently they gave their version of this great song and just now googled original artist and it’s roger miller. Gotta go now and listen. Isn’t it great. I thought Janis was the first....🌸

Kris Kristofferson wrote this song long before Waylon sang it. But he does it very good.. :-)
@TheOfficialCatass4 жыл бұрын
Kris Kristofferson learned it from a Roger Miller album and Roger Miller learned it from a Waylon Jennings album. At least that's the story Waylon Jennings liked to tell. (for the record, Roger Miller was the first one to record it)

@@TheOfficialCatass "Me and Bobby McGee" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson and songwriter Fred Foster, originally performed by Roger Miller. A posthumously released version by Janis Joplin topped the U.S. singles chart in 1971, making the song the second posthumously released No.

Another Waylon master piece. My opinion bit what a shame this masterpiece fell to the likes of Joplin. Give me Roger Miller, the Statler Brothers, the Highway Men, anyone but Joplin.
