Wayman Tisdale went from being a star NBA power forward to being a great jazz bassist. Sadly died at the age of 44. RIP

so sad... This guy sure didn't wanna pass away. He had so much more life to live... But, I guess his passing is just something beyond us to understand and it was just up to the good lord above. May God rest his soul... I was hoping to see him this year live. Ashame I didn't get to witness him in person. He will be missed and we'll see him again in heaven still playing the heck outta that bass. RIP Wayman

To me, he's up there with Stanley Clarke as far as Piccolo bass players. Victor Wooten is in a class by himself. Wayman isn't that far behind. Sometimes it saddens me what more he could've done if he was still here.

RIP Big Man. This was a man, a giant man, a man beyong measure. I never even knew of him until I paid attention to Toby Keith's song. I just watched the story of him on TV. Always smiling, what a big man he was. Makes me won't to cry and I am a grown man. People count your blessings.

What an Awesome Bassist LEAD Guitar player he was!! One of the NICEST guys you'd meet & SO Very Talented!! Tragically, we lost him 5 years ago, May 15th, 2009! :*( He fought the good fight but lost his life to cancer. I told him a few times in communication or in person, "I LOVE his Face!! That Big Beautiful & Joyful SMILE he'd get Every time I'd see him play!" If you've never heard him before, check out more if his work on KZbin. .. Especially one of my favorites he use to play called, "Hang Time." The world lost a Good One.. enjoy!! :*)

@Souljaboc That was the same. Last Year i was visited my Sister in Seattle. I heard the Jazz Network "KWJZ". I heard many Smoth jazz songs and one of that was from Wayman Tisdale. In Germany i heard the same song too. After that, i love so much Jazz, more Smooth Jazz and more. Dave Koz, Wayman Tisdale, wonderful! He´s was and is fantastic Smooth Jazz artist and Basketball player. Rest in Peace Wayman!

His band, with the great Marcus Miller subbing for the big man, played this song at his funeral yesterday. That yellow bass was propped up against the casket. The day before, it was in the casket with Wayman. It was so poignant. I just can't believe he's gone.

Look at the fun he's having. Make you feel good about what he accomplished. Nothing, and I mean, nothing, from one corner of this world to another, from riches to possessions to rooms full of friends, means as much as having moments of inner accomplishment like this, right here in this video. We worry that our lost ones have "lost" by dying. But we can focus on this kind of evidence to see when they GAINED the essense of soul. He obviously did, and carried it home.
