As a Canadian, I loved every second of this interview. I thought about my husband playing hockey still at 47, and thought back to his early mornings in the cold and dark, rolling out of his warm bed to play hockey like his heroes on tv. Will's description of what it feels like to get to the rink to play, gave me a new understanding and joy for my husband. I was so happy to hear Sean's excitement and thoughtful questions. Jason was giving me proud friend vibes as he got to witness his friend talk to his hero. ❤️ Wayne Gretzky, thank you for shining bright your whole life, and for being a hero to my husband, you are both amazing men. Sorry aboot the book eh, and thanks again.

As a Brantfortonian, love the shout outs Wayne gave to his home town and the respect he had for his dad and the impact Walter had on his success. This was a great interview with thoughtful questions. I enjoyed hearing all the stories from his early years.

As a Canadian (now American) who grew up in the age of Gretzky this interview brought so many amazing feelings and memories to me. I moved to the States when I was in college and I have so much difficulty explaining to Americans what Hockey Night in Canada means to me and every Canadian. How once a week time stands still and an entire nation of people embrace competition together. How when Team Canada makes it to the semifinals in the Olympics, the entire country stands still, teachers put down their chalk and hook up the TV...if the USA had this level of unity and a common togetherness it would alleviate a lot of the polarizing tension here and give everyone a common thread. Liberal, conservative, Irish ancestry, Punjabi ancestry, all of that takes a sudden pause when that puck hits the ice. And when the the skates march back down the tunnels at the end, everyone in Canada is united and embracing each other.

This was such a wonderful interview. Gretzky is such a unique individual and you can tell how much he appreciates what life and talent have given him. I've listened to this interview several times because it is so uplifting. ALSO, all three of you are so very funny! I was a Chicago Black Hawks fan years ago and spent many an hour with my Dad watching hockey games. Will, you knowledge of hockey and stats on Gretzky were amazing. Thank you all three of you for bringing a podcast that is a great way to smile, relax and enjoy an hour or so. Great job!

I was bringing up my sons when Wayne was playing. I didn’t know much about him other than he was great. This podcast was great and I learned what a great person Wayne is. As a long time Bobby Orr fan, I truly appreciate the person Wayne Gretzky is. Bravo Smartless!

I happened to be living in Edmonton the summer that Wayne was traded to LA. The whole city was in shock and in mourning for weeks. It was a wild time to be there.

Like Sean, I don't watch hockey, but I too know who Wayne Gretzky is and have heard of his greatness. This was the first time I've ever heard him speak. What an amazing guest. He was quite the raconteur. (Will, feel free to use the word. Not as fancy as 'de rigueur', but certainly not used in every day parlance either). ;) But seriously, he was so charming and open and funny. Could've listened to more of his stories. Really great guest.
