WAYNE GRETZKY SURPRISE CHRISTMAS EPISODE

On Episode 476 of Spittin’ Chiclets, the guys are bringing you a special surprise Christmas gift, The Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky (01:27:38). In our second interview with Wayne, the boys go over his time playing for the L.A. Kings as well as his international play in the 80’s and 90’s. We find out what was the best Christmas gift he ever received and how Connor McDavid is the second biggest Nickelback fan ever. But before The Great One joins, the guys talk shop about what’s going on around the league. Later on, the boys hand out some coal and coins to some teams around the league. Love gretz. When I was playing pee wee he came to a practice or a rink I was skating at or something (don't really remember much about the day other than seeing the great one lol) and I got an autographed photo. Lost the photo in a house fire but I'll always remember meeting the greatest player ever.

Feels like every minor hockey player from Ontario had an opportunity to meet Walter Gretzky. I have multiple pictures with him handing out medals and trophies. What a great human and you can see him in Wayne. Great pod boys, appreciate all you guys do.

I got to play in the Walter Gretzky Tournament and meet Walter and even with everything he was struggling with at the time he was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Absolute legend in every way he loved the game and the fans I'll forever be grateful i got to meet him

Next time, PLEASE PLEASE, have him explain how he worked behind the net. Give him a whiteboard and a marker. I remember seeing one team get so frustrated that the defenseman just moved the net. There should be videos all over KZbin with highlights of Gretzky in the office. Arrgh!!!

@@docriley7837 The most I've heard him say on the topic was that he learned it from watching Bobby Clark. No interviewer has asked for details. What's more, is that there are lots of hockey KZbinrs out there with hours of Gretzky footage, and none of them know what they are looking at or looking for. One good interview and these guys will all race to get their Gretzky in the Office videos out.

Wayne Gretzky, such a gentleman. In the early 90's he was playing in a charity golf tournament near Windsor, Ont. My husband was building a house on the edge of the course, spotted Wayne and went over to him. He asked for his autograph, and Wayne was happy to sign 2 autographs. One for our newborn son and one for our hockey crazy nephew. An absolutely amazing Canadian!

As far as the Avs: Drouin had 3 pts in his first 15, has 11 in the 17 since, great on the PP in the bumper right now. Still invisible 5 on 5 though, Johansen has been pretty unimpressive as well. And as far as that early ad read mentioning having Pink Whit as both the shot and the chase: I will be testing that strategy in the near future!

Wayne is such a tough interview because he has been telling the same stories over and over again for so many years, you rarely get anything new from him. But I have to hand it to these guys, at least they tried. I was looking forward to hearing him answer the Kurri trade question and he unfortunately sort of deflected and never really gave the direct answer. Everything seems to roll into the pool of same stories that we have all heard a million times already and that’s what makes him such a tough interview.
