Dack and the Cornstalk was great. The substitution of “French duck” in place of “Englishman” was amazing. But replacing the “goose that lays the golden eggs” with a “tiny human that coughs up silver eggs” was deluxe.

The "Red Sox, White Sox and Marlins" under dislikes is so funny because it provides an exact timeline for this being from 2005. In 2003 the Yankees lost the World Series to the Marlins, in 2004 they lost the American League Championship Series to the Red Sox, who would go on to win their first world series since 1918 and then in 2005 they lost to the White Sox in the ALCS where they won their first since 19*17*. Wayne had been loosely following the Yankees for 3 years at this point.

I LOVED creative writing classes in high school. One time I had to write basically a fanfic for Lord of the Flies that could conceivably be canon, from the perspective of one of the unnamed kids from the start. I went above and beyond and wrote this honestly embarrassing fantasy story about how this one kid got lost, found a cave where God lived, and she was like "Yo you should help me out" and then that one evil kid, you know the one, he turned out to be possessed by the devil, and I forget exactly what I wrote into the story, but it ended with the kid being left behind on this God Island, and then the devil kid destroying the ship that rescued the kids, killing everyone on it. The assignment asked for 2 pages, and I provided 14 pages. This english class had two teachers, and they proofread the first two pages, then decided to not give me a grade because I wrote too much. Literally everyone in the class got mad at the teachers for this and this ended up being a blank spot on my report card that lead to me getting a worse grade. Anyway, schools are made up and fake, do whatever you want in school, kids

@@calcifieddirt4120 I know this isn't the point but the fact you went so high detailed on this and seemed to fare a lot yet you call Jack the evil kid when the whole book is about how the kids are inherently evil and just learn back their natural savagery is quite funny.

Also I too LOVED my creative writing class. Firbmy final turn in I abandoned a series I was making which I didn't like as much to make a fantasy story about a trio of dwarves unleashing an evil milk scorcer named lactose the intolerant, probably my personal favorite to write.

What in the fuck?? Was this a US school?? Schools can be fucked no matter where you are but I swear most of the stories I hear like this are from US schools!! Either way that's awful. I was very much like this and I have a similar story. We were told to write a fantasy story, taking a classic fairy tale and retelling it. I also went way beyond the 1-2 pages assigned, and wrote this long story retelling the Princess and the Frog where the frog was an asshole prince cursed by a witch, and the princess agrees to help him return to normal and he learns how to be kind, they form a friendship, all that jazz. I'm pretty sure I removed the romance aspect coz I never cared about that as a kid lol. I just liked the asshole redemption and princess being this badass, infiltrating the witches tower. Anyways I got so into it that I needed extra time, basically begged my teacher to give me an extra day to work on it and when I submitted it, I got the gold star writers award, which means it got hung up in the hallway for everyone to see when you pass by. It was so long it trailed right off the board too. She praised it while also giving me some fair criticism and seriously motivated me to keep writing. To this day I'm still writing stories and creating stuff. (Also, she was my absolute best teacher, by far. Wonderful person.) Teachers should be encouraging creativity, not stifling it. That's wild that you'd be punished for putting in more effort :(( makes me so upset It seems small but that kinda stuff can stick with you

When I was in fifth grade my teacher gave the class a writing prompt one day to write down the name of our favorite famous women and why we liked them, and as a child the only famous people I cared about was spongebob and sonic, but I did watch a lot of documentaries about dead people, so my nine year old ass said that my favorite woman was Marilyn Monroe. The next day the teacher asked us who our favorite famous man was, to which I responded “mr. Monroe because he is the father of Marilyn Monroe”

my tenth grade year was entirely virtual, and i had a creative writing course that year, but i did not give even 1% of a shit because i could just play minecraft for 72 hours straight instead, so i would literally just go onto my fanfiction account, copy-paste shit i wrote six months to a YEAR earlier that vaguely fit the prompt, change all the names, and submit it unchanged. i got like a C in that class because i entirely gave up with two months left in the year and stopped doing any assignments. online learning suuuuucks, but creative writing was a really great class and i was super glad i got to have that teacher again in-person for my senior year.

creative writing goes SO HARD. for some reason, in my economics class in my senior year of high school, my teacher assigned the class to do creative writing exercises every week i think, using all 5 words from a word bank that he chose for us. because i really didn't like him, and i was (unfortunately) a huge homestuck fan at the time, i basically just said "fuck it" and added something homestuck related to each weekly paragraph. i knew he wouldn't realize my Mischievous Doings because he wasn't the kind of guy to be online. i still have the file i saved them all in.

In the 9th grade i wrote a story heavily inspired by PT since it had just released and i thought it was cool. It was about a guy in a looping maze who gets killed by a demon for trying to retrace his steps. I had to read it aloud in the class and since the teacher hated me she gave me a C.

I can only remember like three times where we got to do creative writing in school when I was a kid. I was always super excited to do it but was so sad that I almost never had the chance to do it. It was like the only time that I was interested in school is when they told us to just do what we want with a project. Creative freedom gets kids way more interested in learning than forcing them to read a book that they don't give a shit about.

basically this is my school story. In around 3rd grade i heard teachers in the teachers lounge which was right next to the classroom went to at the time. they basically one of them said they think people who have autism are like mentally rtarded and they have to take pity to not make them upset. And as a kid with autism i didn’t get sad hearing that i got happy because i realized something. i could legit just not give a shit on anything i worked on and get good grades. so basically if i came to story’s in school i would write complete complete bullshit story’s with nonsensical plots and get a A+ on it. and that’s how i figured out i could use pity in school to get good grades. and the first kids to complete their work got to go on the class computer and do stuff on it. i completely understood the subjects i was learning but i realized i could be really lazy on it and get good grades so i basically was on the computer most of the day messing with power point and making animations and stuff in it. it got to the point i had like a 20+ minute animation using a weird mix of images crappy drawings and using a feature that could play music in it after like 6 months of doing it. i really wished i still had it of course it’s complete cringe probably but it would have been good.
