I like to use butyl tape for similar projects. It is neat and easy to work with. It is available at Amazon or Sailrite. I tried to include a link to the product but it seems KZbin deletes my comments when there is a link in them. It must be a new policy - never did that before.

I’ve heard of butyl tape but never tried it. I’m sure it’s easier to work with than goopy stuff!
