The Rider is one of my favorites by Charlie. His recent City Stock has claimed #1 but in all reality the real number one that Charlie had a hand in is the Bladeforums 2021 Barlow. That’s my favorite

The knife is an 86 Harness Jack in Gabon Ebony…. I miss your old intro, but the new one is growing on me fast🙂

You can keep your combs and your caplifters - give me an awl every time. A pointy/poky thing is a useful extra to a regular blade - the #29 Stockyard Whittler is GEC's blest blade combo imho (clip, sheepfoot, awl) and i don't know why it's not more popular. Any 2-blade #86 gives you a proper handful - I have this one, the Angus Jack, and the Oil Field Jack (as well as a couple of the Barlows) - truly great knives.

I managed to pick up one of the white bone ones on a drop, but i had to pick up the ebony on the secondary. Im pretty sure that Charlie said the shield was an "Empire" shield. Empire being a knife company from back in the day and this was one of the shields that they used fairly often. Im pretty sure thats what he called the shield and why. Great video as always. Really enjoying your channel 👍

@@WVKNIFEGUY nice catch on both knives, and thanks for putting the extra info in the comments.

I don’t have one of these but I have 4 86’s. Might be my favorite GEC pattern. The clip point version I find is more of my preference to use and carry because of the pinchability coming from the swell in the center of the blade when it’s closed. You’ve got a treasure there. You must have really had the shakes to go pay that eBay price lol. But I’ve been there before too. The curse of a knife freak. Great video bud. Love the patina on that bad boy
