Thanks to Jason for being open to learning something brand new on camera like this! We also made a Parkour related video for his channel here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaKneK2XfKh5ZtE

This is the best thing short of one on one instruction. Being able to see what learning looks like helps me be less self-critical. Seeing the normal mistakes a learning makes helps me understand what mistakes I’m likely to make. My rope will be here next week; I’ll check back in and let you know how my first session goes. (If anyone sees this comment a week old without my reply, please ask me for an update to remind me)

Nice one Anthony. Welcome to the practice mate! Hows it going?

@@Tims_Gym Thanks for the ping, sir! Having watched this video five days earlier, I was able to get the dragon roll on my 4th try! And to be clear, learning physical things like this usually takes me way longer than other people. I’ve got a lot of experience with slinging and mace-bells, which have some similar movements in them, but they’re also different enough that I worried the muscle memory would conflict.

This looks like something I can try. As a truck driver, I am always looking for new ways to exercise, that doesn't take up much room. This appears to be something I can do on the road. Thank you for this tutorial

@@Tims_Gym I sometimes iron my clothes to relieve this trouble in my chest, however the rope flow has really changed my perception by learning my shoulders to relax and keep the tension across the torso from being so vulnerable

I have a guess where the Dragon Roll came from. David was practicing the sneak. He messed it up and did a crude dragon roll. Rather than dismiss the "error", he paid attention to that accidental movement. Over time, our mad scientist of movement realized the genius of the lateral movement. Shazam! The Dragon Roll was born. I sent Weck an e-mail asking about this origin story; I haven't heard back yet. History is filled with scientists making an "error" and realizing that the accident was a tremendous find. One of the best is Lorenz's discovery that weather simulations rounded to 3 decimal digits rapidly diverged from simulations internally represented by 6 decimal digits. "Lorenz considered, as did many mathematicians of his time, that a small variation at the start of a calculation would Induce a small difference In the result, of the order of magnitude of the initial variation. This was obviously not the case, and all scientists are now familiar with this fact." We thus got a formal exploration of Lorenz's Butterfly Effect and Chaos Theory. Brilliant. ...or maybe he simply imagined the dragon roll and executed it. Have you ever experimented with suggesting a lateral movement with no example and seeing if a student can create the movement on his own?

Come on this is not a thing. It’s swinging a bit of rope around like a kid does. People are going to waste time doing this kind of exercise’ when they could do 10 press ups 10 sit up and 5 burpees for example. Next weeks new exercise ‘Finger curls’
@Tims_Gym4 ай бұрын
People love rope flow brother but it has to be experienced to be understood.
@megchetter89872 ай бұрын
Finger curls are of benefit to your forearm muscles...so any movement can be good 😉

Tbh some ropes get pretty heavy up to 10kg (a lil more than 20 pounds I think) which would give you a pretty decent core, mobility and endurance workout. It's also fun and aesthetically pleasing. No reason to be hating on people just having fun
