Notes from this video. How to attain Khushoo. 4 steps 1. Prepare for the prayer. Make Dua that you'll attain Khushoo before starting prayer Don't get distracted (esp by the opposite gender) right before the prayer Make fresh wudhu before prayer, beautyfy yourself, and use miswak as this is the Sunnah Repeat after the Muazzin and make dhikr after the adhan Empty your mind before praying (forget about worldly worries) Attend masjid. Come early, be eager to pray in the first row, pray 2 rakaas after entering the masjid. Stay for some time after prayer to do dhikr. Make Dua so that shaytan won't approach you Remove whatever that distracts you 2. Control your mind during the Salah Keep in mind that you're facing the Qibla. And the Angels are facing the direction of the throne of Allah. Imagine that it's the day of judgement and remind yourself about it's descriptions according to Qur'an and hadith. When you're standing and are about to pray, imagine that you're standing right in front of Allah. That Allah is watching you so that you'll think about what you're saying (reciting) When you raise your hands to say "Allahu Akbar" , know that the meaning behind that movement is that "you left all your worries, and this dunya is behind you. And you're facing only Allah". Also, "Allahu Akbar" means "Allah is greater (than anything else)" Now ponder why we say that so much during the prayer. Now that you've started the prayer, keep in mind that when you turn to Allah, Allah turns to you (according to hadith). It's a sign that you have to submit. Putting the right hand upon your left hand is to show your humbleness before Allah (s.w.t) Putting your hands over your chest (upon your heart) has the same meaning as "Oh Allah I'm speaking to you from my heart" Learn the meaning behind each and every ayah that you recite during the prayer so that you know what you're saying, and that's how your prayer will become more sincere and you'll be more focused When you recite surah al-Fatiha, Allah responds to the each ayah that you recite. So take your time reciting each ayah. Don't move to another one too quickly. How does Allah respond to you when you recite al-Fatiha? Here's the details: - > When you say: " Alhamdu lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen " -> Allah (s.w.t ) responds : "Return, my servant has pleased me" -> To "Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem -> Allah (s.w.t) says: " My servant has spoken good of me" -> Maaliki Yawmid-Deen -> Allah (s.w.t) says: " My servant has glorified me" -> Iyyaaka na'budu wa lyyaaka nasta'een -> Allah (s.w.t) says: " This is between me and my servant and he/she'll have whatever he/she asks for" -> When you recite: Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqeem. Siraatal-lazeena an'amta 'alaihim ghayril-maghdoobi 'alaihim wa lad-daaalleen -> Allah (s.w.t) says again: " This is between me and my servant and he/she'll have whatever he/she asks for" And then you recite another surah. After that you make ruku' (bow before Allah). By that you show appreciation and praise Allah for Qur'an and it's excellence. That's why we don't recite anything in ruku The sajda is when you become the closest to Allah (s.w.t) Then you sit down after sajdah... < I couldn't take notes from the rest of the khutbah bc there were too many hadiths mentioned which I don't know the recourses of sorry> 3. Pray as if it's your last prayer. Remember death 4. Contemplate on what you're reading in your Salah. Recite the Qur'an with beautiful voice. And when you feel like shaytan is making waswas, spit left to you ( if nobody's present there)
