My favorite way to find fabric is thrift stores. I dearly love when I find crocheted pieces, or embroidered pieces like you said in the video. I found two beautiful quilted pillow shams last week. Sometimes I find little pieces of fabric at the Dollar tree too.

I have a large tote full of jean fabrics that I have saved from old clothing. I also look for denim dresses and jumpers at thrift shops. Bigger sizes=more fabric! It's a plus when I find embroidered areas on the pieces. Like you, I get fabrics from many places. It's fun to go out looking for unique pieces...just never know what you'll find! Great video!

I have acquired fabric through all of your methods. I have friends who have given me decorator and upholstery samples with the paper tops. These are usually mixed blends and heavier fabrics but are great for texture. Recently, a friend who makes clothing for her grandchildren gave me a 30 gallon grocery bag full of really small scraps. When I tell people I will take pieces as small as 2 inch squares they really understand I will take all scraps.

Our one and only quilt shop in town has bins of scrap fabric, both cotton types and wool. She provides three sizes of plastic bags to fill for a fixed price. Funny little note she posts a sign that tells you the bag has to be zipped up, not left open. Too cute.

I’m very lucky that I have a lot of fabric from my Mom who sewed throughout her life. I also have many of her old linens, too! 😃❤️

Great video. More great sources I look for are pretty scarves, placements, lacy curtains, prom dresses, wedding gowns, hankies, and bandannas too.

Where do you store all your fabric finds when it comes to larger pieces? I'm new to slow stitching and I have a pile starting 😅
@DanielaMellen Жыл бұрын
I have clear tubs where I store the fabrics. I sort it by color and holiday. And I have scrap bins for smaller pieces. Some people use baskets or dresser drawers.
