Obviously you have never been in a hand to hand combat situation. In my 34 years in the Marines, I have been in a few. When I speak of maintaining a blade, I do not mean it to cut up a bunch of potatoes. I mean it to take a life to save your life, or others. You called it vermiculite. Do you mean Novaculite? Novaculite is what Arkansas stones are made of.

Not to be a dick but stropping is when you use leather to remove burrs from a blade to make it shaving sharp. My grandfather had a razor strop made of leather he had hung on the wall in the bathroom to make sure the straight razor he used to shave was absolutely sharp... yes he used a straight razor to shave yes I'm an old guy Thanks for the video! Thinking about getting one these stones for SHTF purposes to keep blades sharp
