For anyone who has supervised anyone, you know this kind of failure was bound to happen. A new rule comes down from above: "Do this repetitive task every hour, on the hour. This must be done in addition to your existing duties. No overtime is permitted. No new hires are coming... check this box saying you did it. Honest answers only please!"

That's not a good excuse, when you’re in jobs like being a firefighter police officer, EMT or medical professional, you are held at a higher standard than regular people. I work at a hospital. We have to do hourly rounding it does get tedious, but we still do them and I work in labor and delivery. The amount of women we saved by doing our job properly makes me sick of the lives lost due to lazy workers.

@@Animelover540it is. Corrections is the most neglected so the caseload is at untenable levels. My prison required every 30 minutes. It would take 50 to perform one round. I had to check on 4 times the regulation amount of inmates and the regulation work of 3 officers. Feeding 2-3 times a day took 2-3 hours, medical call took 1-2 hours, then sit down and record events every 30 minutes in logbook, running battery charging, phones, showers, the list goes on. No matter what I’d be at a deficit of at least 1-2 hours on checks. If I followed more extreme protocols that deficit would at least be 4-5 hours. It’s a no win situation with sketchy promises from up top that as long as they see you trying you’d legally ok. As an 18 yo I believed it for a 3 years, got burned out, and quit.

I worked in a kiddies jail for 12 months, and on night shift, I checked every 10 minutes because I didn't want to find any young adult dead in the cells. This is what happens when you don't have a work ethical approach to whatever job you do. I work with aboriginal kids, and I know what was happening to them. Mental health issues are worse because they literally had freedom to do what they want any time of night and then they find when locked up they lost that freedom. Plus they have a need to be outside and then locked inside. Thiswould send them spiritual out of sorts, so you have to watch them and try and pick up the clues that they are going to lose themselves. That was the only way to stay on top of their mental state and intervention if needed

U can’t expect officers to check cell every 10 minutes.. that’s impossible hire more staff if u want accountability!
