Such awesome sprints! I had just gotten home from school in time for the quarter finals, and was yelling at the screen when Northug FINALLY managed to show some of his old greatness. In the finals, I was happy for Maiken, that was a very deserved win. Jessie and Kikkan on the podium, brilliant. Perfect result. Men's final, I cheered when Federico Pellegrino won the gold medal. First men's sprint gold medal for a non-Russian or non-Scandinavian. Klæbo has the attitude of a much older and more experienced skier, very strong mentally. Northug was happy with his fifth place, given the rotten season he's had, so making it to the finals was impressive. Ustiugov seemed less enthused, but he'll get more chances to show off his talents in races to come. Great skier.

I saw Ustiugov's qualifying run at this event, standing right next the track just before the first climb. He was a monster machine. Super explosive!

Wish we could get past being "surprised" when the Americans do so well. These are amazing athletes!

It was a surprise given the way they made it to the final. The Swiss skier was unfairly DQ'd, meaning that Randall would take her place in the semifinal. Then the Swede and the Russian fell when they were at or near the front, while the Randall and Caldwell were behind. Diggins was the only one that really got there without any fortune. She just skied tactically well and she looked strong.

It's more of a generalized statement regarding the typical commentary, which seems to be slanted toward the Scandinavian skiers.

American skiers are amazing and they do not use asthma drugs compared to norwegians who amazingly fell ill after 2009 WC.

But Jessica have been training together with Maiken and the norwegian national team last summer. That made her a lot better. Now she knows what to do to get better.

Typical Norwegian mentality: "Joe Foreigner is a good skier. Joe Foreigner now trains with Norwegians and becomes a great skier." Please, spare us this mentality.

Falla deserve the win though I hoped for Nilsson. Stina had trouble with the rough tracks and had a tad worse skies than Falla and looked stressed out compared to her normal self. Maybe the pressure got to her being her nations sole realistic hope for a gold medal in the championship. Still kudos for taking the convicted russian with her in the snow! The americans have had so many falls during the last years so I guess it was their turn on the podium this time. Go Kickan!
