Question do they group the groups base off speed?
@bigoofersrock Жыл бұрын
@@ImDetonator_You’re correct, but I do have some cubing competition memories where the early groups are all usually slower cubers, and the final group is the stars of the competition. I dunno, maybe it’s just that weird effect where things are so random that they often don’t feel random.
@happygamer787 Жыл бұрын
@@bigoofersrock I think it depends on the people that are organising the comp, all the comps I have been to have had slower cubers (or cubers who haven't participated in that event yet) first and then the faster solvers.
@bigoofersrock Жыл бұрын
@@happygamer787 True. and that is the usual order for mine. I also see why they would do that order. If you have all the 1:00 min solvers in many different groups, each groups will take, like, 15 minutes, cause all the 1 minute solvers will be with the fast 8 second solvers who would usually have a 10 minute group, but when they're all in 1 group, 1 group is 15 minutes, next is 13, then 12, then 10 or so.

A few other things you really need to be doing is that after any solve and after it's written on the scorecard either the judge or the competitor needs to reset the timer for the next cuber. While being a runner you should announce the competitors name loudly and in some case the full first and last name. This is due to the noisy environment of the comp venue and there might be more than one cubers named Billy that's competing.

What are your guyses opinion on using fixed seating? So we numbered the stations 1-20 and write a number on the scorecard. When the competitior brings his cube, he checks the number on his scorecard and takes a sit at his assigned station. This removes the crazy amount of running from competitiors. This way runners also don't have to issues with pronouncing international names, looking for the competitor in the waiting area and the competitior gets to calm down better between his solves
@TetraCubing Жыл бұрын
Fixed seating was used a lot in 2021/early 2022 comps (some regions like Australia still use this), but the competition does run quite a bit slower with fixed seating, because the number of competitors per group can't be greater than the number of stations with fixed seating, while from regular format you can put about twice the number of competitors as stations. I do prefer fixed seating as a competitor (the last comp I organized had fixed seating for Clock finals because it was small but not for any other round, and it helped me calm my nerves knowing that my judge would judge me correctly) but as an organizer, regular format works better and is less risky.
@e.antony01 Жыл бұрын
The benefit of fixed seating is that you get to know your judge and chat before competing as the cubing community is friendly and like minded
