Great to see a build with this style truck. What options did you get to make it a builder towing rig because from what I’ve seen they are not really built for towing but more for hauling heavy load on the frame. Also, what trailer do you use?

@@ericwhite2474 we purchased this 5500 truck as a 4WD model with the intent of pulling our 44’ Intech Aluminum Gooseneck trailer used for transporting our pull truck to various competitions and also sees double duty for hauling show displays to larger events like UCC. In terms of truck specs, it’s a 4x4, 175” wheelbase with onboard air. The rest of the modifications made after we took delivery are documented in these videos except for the Calibrated Power tuning and Stealth 64 turbo upgrade which happened after the last video in this series was published.

Awesome pick, love these new medium duty trucks. Do you guys know if anyone out there has plans to build a motor home on these chassis. I would be interested. currently own a 2008 5500 Jayco Senica. Love it!

Unfortunately we’re not aware of any motor homes using this medium duty chassis design, but to be fair we’re not really involved in the RV business.

Are you going to make performance upgrades kits like the one you offer for the 17-20 LP5's ?

The L5D is detuned due to the stricter emission standards that medium duty trucks are subjected to, not due to reliability issues. Its a common trend among all manufacturers to detune their diesels to meet these standards.

Curious what the GCWR is? Subtract the GCWR from the GVWR = legal tow capacity. The majority of those trucks are 26,000 or 30,000 GCWR. Some are 34,000. Considering the 19,500 GVWR of that 5500, these trucks are not rated to tow very much unfortunately.

Up to 37,500 depending on how it's spec'd.

How do you use the air dryer? I got one yesterday

The air dryer is built into the compressor system mounted on the frame. Kelderman air lines connect to the factory air tank which is all dried air from the factory setup.

Man i cant imagine trading my 3500 for a 5500 and loosing 100HP thats make no sense in my mind. And them being somewhat a L5P tuning it back up probably cost around 7K
