What I love about WCT 5 in particular is all the new strategies we’re seeing. Before this, the meta was pretty much “always start by the tilted cube,” but now with especially Parkour 59 and the other European teams we’ve started seeing, that’s changed. PK59 only mastered flushing out evaders by the tilted cube, but also almost guaranteed a tag. This has been forcing other teams like Envy GNF to switch up starting positions, which I love to see.
@lhommepeignoir50572 жыл бұрын
I love how fast everyhting is changing. Parkour 59 introduced the Ridge Opening in their last match, and already GNF's chasers have figured out counter-strategies.

@@lhommepeignoir5057 P59 are far from the first to use the ridge opening, APEX ETH used it extensively as early as WCT USA 4, and there have been other teams before them, even. I do love the perch on the bar leading to the tilted cube that we've been seeing this tournament, it seems very effective.

Seth Ruji's redemption arc was an absolute delight. Also the chase of Hugo v Vasc is an instant highlight, reminiscent of USA's Sliger evasion v Kyle. I had a feeling the underdogs would win againt the OGs. Vasc always seeming cold blooded and does some silly mistakes. Julius surprisingly keeps getting better and better. Law and Jarrod are becoming beasts at chasing.

Parkour 59 are bringing something new. They're not the fastest, the smoothest, or the most powerful athletes, but they seem to have this deep understanding of the sport which sets them apart. They're the first team of "technicians", I've witnessed in WCT. They know when to stop and corner, they have amazing positionning and over-the-shoulder awareness... I love watching them perform, can't wait to see them in the rest of the tournament.

Bittersweet as a big GNF fan, was hoping to see them make their way to matching up with one of the Apex squads (wild that that hasn't happened yet - maybe WCT6 🤔), but credit where it's due to a brilliant performance from Parkour 59! Really impressive tactics on display, both in the flushing at the Tilted Cube and juking at the Lazy Boy (just clocked on rewatch that Hugo's first evasion hinged on a very similar feint at the same spot). Lots of relative newcomers really showing out over the course of the tournament, which has been fantastic to see!

Hugely impressive from Parkour 59. Hugo is crazy good as an evader, managing to score against both Seth and Davis. GNF had a few slip ups and missed footings during their evasion rounds (similar to the final against United in some sense) but Parkour 59 had some very disciplined chasers who froze GNF and forced some big errors.

After his record breaking evasion run people have been training just for him. Now he looks average. Does a tag on an athletes shirt count? And can the evader start running before the chase starts or do they have to stay in place? Just curious. Sick match by the way.
@WorldChaseTag2 жыл бұрын
Yes! It just has to be an obvious hand tag. You just have to enter the quad on the starter plate. People have entered in very late before. heres a pretty funny example from the Euro's 2019 kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqCvY4WodptkY9U
@c.f76112 жыл бұрын
Dang, entered pretty late there. But what I mean is can the Evader technically start running before the chase starts. For example, maybe when the Readyman says “ATHLETES READDYY!” The evader could start running down the front line to gain some speed before the actual chase starts. Or is that not allowed? My bad if this sounds confusing.
@juliusporter56682 жыл бұрын
@@c.f7611 yes the evader is free to move around the quad at all times. People generally try to start as far away from the chaser as possible, but you could do a full lap around the quad before the buzzer if you wanted to waste energy.
@c.f76112 жыл бұрын
Oh alright that’s cool. I was just thinking maybe someone could start by the Lazyboy and before the buzzer goes, they start jogging by the Frontline and once they are near the Ridge they pick up speed and head towards the Mountain.
