I actually like how their friendship developed while she was with Lucas. Nathan loosened up so much more and became less tense with her. Now, bring that early passion and pair it with their humorous banter and I think they will be really cute together. Best friends with passion make the best romances! That was how I saw her with Jack as well. They had the banter and the passion.

I figured something out watching this again for the 50th time... I know why we wanted them together and why we thought they would be their "lifetime". When Elizabeth and Nathan interacted in any scene, it always felt like they were in their own little world. They knew each other's vibes, senses and feelings. Similar to when you see a couple at a party and they are in sync. They do not need to say a word, they just know what the other is thinking and feeling. As actors, that says a lot about how they portrayed their characters. Erin and Kevin made it believable. It is so sad they are not going to be a couple moving forward. :(

Absolutely and it says a lot about chemistry and that it is not manufactured but it's natural , and their acting comes across as believable! I believe that many of the team saloon owner gambler fans are caught up in the " soap opera " manufactured romance , and cannot see the natural chemistry between Nathan and Elizabeth! Every word that you have written is exactly how many of us long time fans feel , and yes it is very sad that they blew a golden opportunity to create a most beautiful and natural relationship, but they feel that going in that direction would be boring and affect the show in a digressing manner ! I stopped watching after the finale of season 8 ! Thank you for wonderful words !

I think Elizabeth will choose Nathan in episode 12. When Lucas fans comment that Nathan is boring or they don't see the chemistry between Nathan and Elizabeth, I just have to chuckle because they obviously are not paying attention. I also think the kiss that Nathan plants on Elizabeth will be a memorable one for Elizabeth and for everyone watching. Hearties will NOT be bored by that kiss!

I just don’t understand how they have all of this chemistry and the writers have been setting their characters up to be together for a couple seasons but then don’t follow through. I have nothing against Lucas but I just didn’t see any connection between him and Elizabeth like I did with Nathan.

I never thought that I was totally out of touch, that I couldn't or completely recognize what LOVE is or looks like or feel like. But apparently I have missed something in nat and Eliz scenes. They were powerful, loving, complex, forgiving, tireless, in-depth, truthful, sincere, inspiring, encouraging, faithful to the end. What did I missed? I didn't get these from her scenes with lucas. Read the book. It will blow you away.

Nathan might be many things- he is a Mountie who was disciplined more than once- he put himself in charge of Elizabeth because of his guilt and just assumed she would come to him. I believe Allie was able to be adopted by him because Lucas gave him $1000 no questions asked. There were many scenes where Allie was talking to her uncle and he was paying attention to Elizabeth and Allie had to call him out. I believe he only took parenting advice from Elizabeth. I feel he used Allie to get close to Elizabeth. Yes he takes care of the town but that is his job. There are many scenes between Nathan and Elizabeth but I truly believe she was looking for Jack in him. She told him that but I think he already knew that. He didn’t go through with the purchase of Bills land because he knew she wasn’t going to stay with him. That was really sad because he didn’t even think of Allie when he was looking at it. I have never been team Nathan because I didn’t think she liked him romantically and where would the story line go from there. Lucas believed in her, supported her in her writing, provided her with a library, gave her room to figure out what she wanted, loved her enough to let her go. Lucas does quite a bit for the town. He payed Gowen employees out of his own pocket, let the saloon be used for many events and provided the food etc., always thinking of others. They became friends and fell in love. This is why Lucas was the only choice.

Etc … I think 🤔 just watch the story again 🙈🙈🙈🤪🤪 you are not watching clearly... he did not buy the land not because he did not think of Allie, he did not need it cos he does not have to worry about a bigger place for 4 of them... haha...if you see the way E looked at N, the way it was portrayed was she was always looking for him and interested in him. hahaha.....
