It seems like he's universally despised by fans, but I always thought Mark Madden was underrated. Late stage WCW would have been so much worse without him saying funny shit on commentary.

@@planetschlock Very little of what he said was actually bad and cringey. I enjoyed his commentary in 2000s WCW. Just gave an extra perspective, instead of just 'face play-by-play' and 'heel colour' commentators. ECW did something similar with Cyrus. He always had smarky terminology or was subtley breaking kayfabe. It also worked very well.

LaParka wcw was there for the memes. His stuff in Mexico however is legendary. He had an absolute bloodbath against El Hijo Del Santo that's worth checking out. For a big lad he could always do a lot of flips and dives. He's definitely a huge inspiration for me diving into lucha libre matches. Would always trade tapes if his matches were on them, especially 1996 AAA. Was also my username on UKFF. If anyone remembers that message board.

For La Parka, WCW was a big fat paycheck for an American vacation. XD For some Luchadores Mexican wrestling is the only thing that matters. Just look at Volador Jr. Guy could've been an immense star, but he rarely ever wrestles outside CMLL, it's almost a shame, but the guy knows what he wants. You gotta respect someone who values Luchadore tradition over fame/glory.

They were used by Raven in ECW (which I thought was strange as you'd think he would use a Grunge song instead.) They were Bryan Danielson's first ROH theme. And they were also the main theme song for Dragon Gate back in the mid-2000's.

Big Show has talked quite a bit about his last year in WCW. The "big ego" apparently mostly dealt with the fact that despite being used as a main event guy from the get go, WCW flat out refused to renegotiate from his initial rookie deal and even did some borderline legal things like attaching a royalty opt-out after the fact to his contract. So over a year in and still being paid abiut 10% of what the top guys got saw him just say fuck it and stop trying.

WCW were really taking advantage of him. That they didn't have the money to offer The Giant a better deal was rather telling... Frankly, the writing was on the wall as early as early 1998 that WCW was doomed. The lunatics really were running the asylum.

LA Parka would look around, shaking his head like he was saying "It wasn't me! Look I just dropped the microphone, please don't kill me!"
