Okay, I have a feeling I simply missed the initial reference & reasoning, but where did you (read: OSW) find/comeup with the "Happy days are here again" tagline? I thought maybe it was an inside joke or obscure reference to something I'm unfamiliar with, but just the other day, listening to a Lapsed Fan podcast on Wrestlemania 9, they referenced a Wrestlemania book (or was it the True Story of Wrestlemania documentary?) where it was written someone witnessed Vince McMahon run out, joyously embrace, and proclaim that now infamous quotation to The Immortal Hulk Hogan, who was doing a run-through of his hot-dogging routine that would occur following his pathetic, back-handed theft of the Championship over Yoko later that night. Is this the true origin story guys?

No one in the sports world, not even Sunny, could compete. Her gimmick, that of a innocent, girly girl cheerleader didn't help matters any. Anyway, I was there and have absolutely no recollection of the Duggan/Boss match.

Rein Engel she was gorgeous to be sure. She looked even hotter when she was heel with those outfits she used to wear. Which is why in WWE when DDP was stalking Taker’s horse faced wife made 0 sense as he was still married to Kimberly. It’s like eating a prime steak but stalking a McDouble .

The sting Luger friendship angle is something I’m surprised hasn’t been done before in wrestling imagine a cutthroat heel and a super baby face who are secretly best friends and that overcomes all storyline motivations. It could add some real depth to storylines
@JeremiahEcks777 Жыл бұрын
The Lucha Brothers and Pac pretty much cover this. Pac is heel, Penta is tweener and Fenix is face. But you're right, in the specific way it's being done, it would be interesting. They sort of did it with Cody and MJF, but it didn't last that long and it didn't overcome. But you're also right. Nobody had done it before, that I can remember at any rate.

Technically speaking this wasn't the first 60 man battle royal to ever happen. Jerry Jarrett held a 60 man battle royal in a single ring that was 30 foot square in memphis in the 1970's, the match only happened once.
@paulk63995 жыл бұрын
A 30 foot square ring? Can you elaborate a little? If it’s 30 square foot ring, that’s tiny, roughly 5.5x5.5 ring A ring that’s 30x30 would be MONSTEROUS
@Hammerhead5473 жыл бұрын
@@paulk6399 According to jim cornette the ring was 30X30 and was "hard as concrete". Apparently a bunch of guys got hurt and pretty much everyone complained about how hard the ring was so jarrett never did it again.
@paulk63993 жыл бұрын
@@Hammerhead547 30x30 is insane, I would love to see a ring that size By comparison, WWE uses 20x20

The shot of Hogan's Observer awards kills me every time I see it. At the same time he's winning 10 straight "best babyface" awards and 6 total "most charismatic" awards, he nabs "least favorite wrestler" and "most overrated" 3 times each, and a "worst worked match" and "worst feud" on the way out. Wrestling fans have no idea what they want or what they're talking about.
@JennaLeigh Жыл бұрын
While I agree that wrestling fans only THINK they know what they want, my guess is that Hogan was just incredibly polarizing, even at the apex of his "good guy" powers. In the 80's thru the mid 90's fans were fooled by his schtick..... The only ones who wouldn't buy his BS in this era would be your early internet users, the tape trader types- i.e. the kinda guys who sub to WON and hang on Tuna Meltzer's every word. To each their own.🤷🏻
@marcespinoza6068 Жыл бұрын
He won the positive awards mostly early on and the negative ones as fans grew tired of his schtick.

Hear me out on this one. Maybe, just maybe, Meltzer is a little too generous with Japanese wrestling.
@paulk63993 жыл бұрын
Gotta love how people fawn over a rating system determined by literally one person I remember a few months ago there was a Twitter war between two wrestlers (Osprey and Seth Rollins iirc) and Meltzer interjected and said Osprey was better because he had more 5/6 star matches. He is using his arbitrary and biased review system to settle legacy arguments lol
@pauldavis62323 жыл бұрын
Dave Meltzer has turned the wrestlers into marks. Twitter has killed so much mystique in the wrestlers and it is a shame.
@BigFellaThx2 жыл бұрын
I mean it is an 8 minute tag match in a foreign country where nobody is used to women's wrestling so I can't imagine they were too worried about how tight the work was. Like there was no way we were gonna get Kansai/Ozaki vs Toyota/Yamada 2 out of 3 falls match that lasts over 25 minutes. They probably knew they could work a less intense style than they would at a show that was in Japan
@BigFellaThx2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperDevolution I don't really care that much about what Meltzer rates matches but those tag matches with Ozaki and Dynamite Kansai vs Manami Toyota and Toshiyo Yamada are legit some of the best tag matches of all time

Isn't "Pomp and Circumstance" a public domain song? It's incredibly old and it's played at every school graduation in America. Why does Macho go with the whammy guitar version in WCW when he could've used the same version he used in WWF without worry of a lawsuit?

No. It's Stranger Things. Netflix's original thriller-horror by the Duffer Bros. seemingly using the template of 90's "sister series" _Eerie, Indiana_ kind of as its premise, however set in the 80's, complete with a bevy of nostalgic callbacks from that time period.
