God I miss the early 06-15 Era of motocross and supercross. The baggey jerseys, neck braces, and overall good vibe it just gave 👌

The era Villopoto was a PRO... basically. And yes, I agree... But this new gen is awesome, too! Supercross is still fire today.

It's like the top of the hill was the 70's to 85, and the sport started sliding down hill ever since. If you caught the sport in the middle of the down hill slide, and you see the slide several years later,----you should have been there at the top. I think it is like the early muscle car era. Nobody really knew how cool, (free mostly), the times were when they lived them. Muscle cars were 2nd generation, (in a matter of speaking), for my age, but dirt bikes were new, and I didn't have a drivers license yet so I got into those in 1976. Bought my first new bike in 76 making $1.00/hr part time at my Dad's store, and 2 more later the same way over the next 5 years (76 Kawasaki KD125, 78 YZ100, 79 YZ125, all new for under $800.00). 9 out of 10 kids are not be able to get into dirt bikes today, and I would have been one of them. That is how special the top was, and much more, (like the "bike development race", and it was a race in itself, of the 70s-85).

And no stinking EPA told us what to build and buy, which is a huge reason for the cost today, and the major decline of the sport. 15 guys on a 40 rider MXGP starting gate is serious decline that we will also endure I am sure.

I'm here after the last round of the 2022 season and I have to say that Eli / Sexton title battle was one of the best in AMA Pro Motorcross history ..the closest points chase after 11 rounds in history

@@EarthSurferUSA Im curious . in your opinion what makes 70-80's MX racing superior to today's racing??
@WildnFast2 жыл бұрын
I loved seeing the huge battles for almost the entire moto’s, you do not see that as much as we used too. I grew up racing in TX 1977-1985. I had huge battles with great racers stuffing each other back and forth. My battles started in the 100 class in 79-80 til I stopped racing in December of 1985. In the Expert class we raced 40 minutes plus 2 laps in 100+ degree heat in the summer with heart rates of 190 plus for most of the race. Only now can they prove what kindvof fitness it took to do this sport and the g forces we were exposed too. They have sensors that measure all of that now. It is unbelievable the forces our bodies withstood, but we were young and wanted to be pro’s.
@kochj0713 Жыл бұрын
Yeah you’re right we don’t seem battles like that anymore. We don’t see mistakes like that anymore but it’s just so professional that it’s just not even close to the same.

I luv the sport no matter who's racing but them days wer so good. These days are different but just as good if. Not better we have tomac legend, kenny legend, sexton up and coming goat, elhombre kikass rider, barcia very talented goes hard, webb very under rated won championships against all these guys legend , Stewart awesome, craig no one can take those whoops like him, Lawrence brothers damn so good man i cld keep going on and on. I left this long ass comment because when i see ppl write things like when eg tomac or kenny leaves the sport im not gonna watch any more or say " who is gonna take over the sport ," just relax and watch ther is always someone who will take over and if u realy love the sport u wldnt say shit like that there's no other sport like it i luv it, me i am A die hard fan for life and I'm damn sure I am one of many that feels the same 👊👌💪

This was one of the best seasons ever this year along with 2011 2012 and 2014 2015 wasn't bad but Ryan vilipotto doesn't get enough credit he did something no rider has ever done sense and probably won't ever do he beat the best in the world of 250s and 450s on a 250 from start to finish he won mxon on a 250 against 250s an 450s never again will we see that happen people always say Ricky and James an Dungey but they forget about vilipotto an Baggett an alex Martin all these really fast guys that had great skills an technique along with barcia

Villo hands was down was the best of his generation. Dungey won a few of his championships because Villo was hurt. Don't get me wrong Dungey did a lot by being smart. Everyone rides the Dungey way now a days. Trey was more talented than everyone in his generation except Villo. Villo is a true all time great. Dungey was the best thing for the sport at the time, he spoke well looked good, and won, and bagged a Wheaties box mic drop. Barcia had more style than Trey but lacked heart and the fundamental science of riding. Villo was the generation that was corporate bred to take #7 down. Villo eventually went rogue, and Dungey towed the corporate line, and it served him well.
