Actually most of the issues (including the Intel HD graphics issue) can be resolved if you installed Win 11 through the legacy BIOS emulation instead of through EFI mode. Install Windows from USB on a pre-2012 Mac will only install in EFI mode, which causes a lot of problems, including the graphics driver issue and the audio driver issue (although the 2012-early 2013 Macs also have issues installing Windows in EFI mode, but they can boot the Windows install USB in legacy BIOS mode). And there are workarounds in installing Windows 11 in legacy BIOS mode. You could try using rEFInd to force boot a Windows 10/11 USB (formatted with MBR partition table) in legacy BIOS mode

Thanks!! Great video!! I am running 11Pro 23H2 on a MacBookPro8,3 I have been fighting with this thing for a while. I found out it required a BIOS boot installation, which was new to me, but I got it done. Almost everything worked, almost. After that, I had to disable BootCamp in the startup menu to avoid BSOD. Now, the key board and extra touch functionality was still missing. I followed your instructions which were actually easier than they look. I amended existing driver with bad, and pasted a copy of the extract file. Re-enabled bootcamp in startup. After a restart, the keyboard lights up, the mouse has tap & multitouch. HOORAY!! Now I have to figure out why I can't dim the screen. the bootcap tray icon is still missing. Maybe tomorrow I'll chase that down. Thank you so much for sharing this video!! You rock!!

@@zubilitic Thanks for the quick response!! At some point, I found a driver for the actual GPU installed. AMD Radeon HD 6750M. While windows showed it failed to install earlier, when I looked at pick a driver on my computer it listed AMD 6750M. I chose it, it installed, and dimming was active again. From what I can tell, everything now works on my early 2011 17" MacBookPro8,3. So happy. I paid $160, and it came with an SSD installed & new battery. $40 on a DSL OEI 11Pro key, and I am off to the races. Don't care for the clicking with vol up/down, but that is the only complaint I have. My $200 investment in a 13 year old crapple has paid off. No gaming. I have installed both ways several times, GPT and MBR, and both windows installations have GPT (GUID Partition Table) as partition style and the only apparent difference between them is so far (i'll test more to confirm): GPT way has Microsoft Basic Display Adapter as display adapter and MBR way (still GPT at the end) has Intel(R) HD Graphics. But both behave in the same way: there is compatibility with GT330M (nvidia discrete adapter) and default one is not fully supported. No screen dimming, no sleep mode, etc. So that is why I am curious why you recommend the mbr mode. Please help out, maybe I am missing something. Hello, I am not sure it will work directly unless it is prepared with "No TPM/No Secure Boot". You can try and if it doesn't work use the usb stick method. However, please read on my recommendations. To be on a safe side and also move your data afterwards (and have also a backup), I recommend to replace the internal disk with another ssd and install Windows 11 on it. Once the installation is done and everything is OK you can copy your personal data from Windows 8 installation and why not keep it around. Test Windows 11, see how it goes and this way you can always come back to Windows 8 in case you find it unstable or not OK for your needs. There are issues I must tell you. I did it just for the fun of it and to see if it works. The main problem is you won't have graphics adapter drivers and because of that you won't be able to sleep the OS when the lid is closed so you will have to shut it down. Cheers!

After finished installing, install Nvidia GeForce 342.01 Driver for notebooks. DO NOT Restart 6. From BootCamp 4.0.4033 folder, delete the Nvidia folder 7. Go back to main BootCamp 4.0.4033 folder and right click on setup.exe to view its properties 8. On the properties window, change it to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode, then click ok 9. Run the BootCamp 4.0.4033 setup.exe and wait for the installation to complete. DO NOT Restart afterwards. 10. From BootCamp 6.1.x folder, go to Drivers/Apple/AppleHAL and copy MacHALDrivers.sys 11. Go to C:/Windows/System32/drivers and rename MacHALDrivers.sys to MacHALDriversBAD.sys 12. Paste the MacHALDrivers.sys from the BootCamp 6.1.x folder to C:/Windows/System32/drivers 13. Have you done windows 10 on a 2007 mac?
@zubilitic2 жыл бұрын
Hello Bryan, I do not have a 2007 mac. I do have an 2006 mac but haven't tested any windows installation on it yet. However, considering the struggle you get on 2010 mac which is on a limit already, I do not believe such setup will bring benefits and smooth ride. If I do test this one day, I'll share the experience for sure.

Strange, I have never got bluescreen while installing bootcamp, it is weird. If the bootcamp version is the correct one, you can try to reset the PRAM/NVRAM and SMC maybe this will fix your issue.

@zubilitic Жыл бұрын
Hello Sajjad, Which mac do you have? This BSOD you got when exactly, during the installation, after, after installing something? And the list could go on. Usually when you get BSOD you can try to start all over again (e.g. reinstall windows from scratch) or you can also boot in safe mode and undo last steps you did (e.g. uninstall drivers or applications recently installed). Hope this helps.

@zubilitic2 жыл бұрын
Hello Badboys, You will have to boot in safe mode and replace MacHALdriver.sys with the one from a 6.1 boot camp installation if you have access to it from safe mode. If not, just delete it and you can put it back when you boot normally. At the end, if you cannot handle that, you can start all over again. Sometimes it's easier :) Hope it helps.

You cannot play games on this mac and windows 11. It is too old and the graphics drivers do not work. I did it as proof of concept and I would not recommend using it daily. If you want to play games (which I am sure not many will), you can install windows 7 which is fully supported. Regarding bootcamp 6 link, you can easily find this with an easy online search or you can use brigadier.

Hello What mac model you have? Or you need exactly 6.1.7931? You can use either Brigadier to download it (as I explained in the video) but just as easy you can run "Boot Camp Assistant" on your macos and will download it for you. Let me know if you cannot get this and I can give you a short demo.

So you have the same as mine. I am sorry you did not get it from the video. 1. Installed 5.1.5621 (downloaded via brigadier as explained there), NO REBOOT; 2. from 6.1.8034 I copied only MacHalDriver.sys and put it in C:\Windows\System32\drivers, replacing the one that is there. 3. Reboot 4. Enjoy :) Hope this helps better. Let me know.

13 year old macbook pro can run windows better than windows laptops, i have watched so many of these videos and the macbooks always run windows 10 faster than my windows laptop can.
@zubilitic11 ай бұрын
That's true but not everything works. For example I am not able to put this mac in standby with windows 11 because there are no graphics drivers. Also, it is fast because there is nothing installed yet, especially the antivirus. Also, windows, no matter the version, tends to get bloated over time and it becomes slow(er). Much more can be written regarding the speed of the OS.

Hello Elvis, You can find that file in any bootcamp 6 drivers package. In the video I was using the one for MacBookPro16,2. I have a video about how to use brigadier in order to download a specific driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6K8gqaXe8ybi7M In a nut shell, in order to download bootcamp drivers for MacBookPro16,2 you use this command: brigadier.exe -m MacBookPro16,2 By the way, there is also a macos alternative for downloading bootcamp drivers and it's easier to use, called Bombardier: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5SqnZyqeJKWfKM Hope this helps. Thank you for your visit and kind words ;)
@zubilitic Жыл бұрын
Regarding your mac, if I am not mistaken it is MacBook Pro 13 inch, early 2011 and it's identifier is MacBookPro8,1 which has two drivers available: 041-84708 which is a version 4 041-84821 which is a version 5 In order to download a specific driver when you have more than one available, you need to use brigadier differently. Please follow the tutorial mentioned in the previous comment or if you have a mac around, use bombardier because it is easier as it has a graphical interface.

Brigadier doesn't work: 9252 Failed to execute brigadier.exe
@zubilitic Жыл бұрын
Hello, I am sorry to hear that. I am only guessing here because I am not in front of your computer but maybe you have some application (e.g. antimalware or antivirus) that is blocking the access. Make sure you check that and allow the executable. Anyway, there must be something specific to your installation because I did not met this issue yet. Also, you can try contacting the developers via this website if everything is fine on your end: github.com/timsutton/brigadier/issues Hope it helps. Let me know how it goes. Thank you for your feedback and visit.

Also, if you have macos around, there is also bombardier, a software for mac that allows you to download boot camp drivers and it is easier than brigadier. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5SqnZyqeJKWfKM

@@zubilitic forget it, I can use tiny11 since it runs on minimum any x64 CPU , 256mb of RAM and 5GB of storage. My Mac SSD is 61GB and i allocated 21GB to my boot camp partition for Windows 7 so it goes like this: Windows 7. Update to Windows 10, Clean Install Tiny11 Edit: I will clean install it on the boot camp partition and use bombardier on macos high Sierra
@zubilitic Жыл бұрын
Hello again, Haven't tried this tiny11. Maybe it is so stripped down that it cannot run everything. I am not sure if even guys from brigadier can help you with this if it comes to that. My recommendation is: boot in macos, use bombardier (or other methods) to download the needed bootcamp drivers, put them to a thumb and then boot into this Tiny11 and see if the drivers will install without issues.
