I was a fan of Brian back in the 60's and the fact that he's still going stronger than ever is outstanding.
@Sota-son Жыл бұрын
I was talking to Auggie when he played the Dakota club in Minneapolis years ago,I was trying to be eloquent about all the factors that I like about his music etc. In one bit I was telling him perhaps the main thing for me was his appreciation for applying his skill to all types of music even some things people might consider too pop or lightweight. I likened it loosely to Ramsey Lewis or The Ventures or The Shadows - musicians with incredible chops who exercise/jam them enough for you to see their skills but without ever going over the line into bebop type overkill that bores and loses the listeners eventually. Keeping it snappy for the most part. Brian listened politely to my whole lengthy rap and then said "well Dan"(he still remembered my name 15 minutes after I introduced myself!)"let me sum it up for you .If it hasn't got a groove there's nothing there for me"! I'll never forget that,what a cool guy and what a nice guy the several times I've chatted him up at gigs. You wish all your music heroes were like him.

Brian is the leader of the pack. 50 years, I have been listening to his music. I have been blessed to see him live, from L.A. to Portland Oregon, Kailua-Kona Hawaii and more. Thank you for your legendary gift to the world of music.

Brian Auger is one of the best keyboardists out there and, unfortunately, under-recognized. His daughter Savannah is beautiful and has a beautiful voice. Highlight for the cover of Save Me, by Aretha Franklin. Fantastic show.

"....unfortunately, under-recognized....." There's a couple of factors, I think. One is that he never really tried to be a rock star - for him it was always blues and jazz, and it still is. The other is that he's a white Englishman playing, essentially, juke-joint organ trio music - a jazz subgenre heavily associated with Americans, and specifically Black Americans. He didn't quite fit in, and may have been underestimated and dismissed as an imitator by the Jazz Police.

Oh, i met Brian Auger in 2012 as i work for the Hamburg Bluesband at the Burg Herzberg Festival. Brian was one of their guest musicians. He was one of the most nicest persons i ever met. Full of jokes the whole days. He brings a lot of fun in the group. I love the music and sound of Brian and have all of his records in my collection.

I was introduced to Brian Auger in the late 70's. I was in the Navy and our carrier, Nimitz was training for her first deployment. We were out on the town, drinking in Ft Lauderdale. Nearly drunk and walking from club to club, this guy pulled up in his work van and asked if we needed a ride. The four or five of us piled in and he pulled off. On his 8-track he was jamming Freedom Jazz Dance. It was smoking! I asked who is that, and he replied Brian Auger. I had never heard of him, but made It a point to get Oblivion Express as soon as we got back to Norfolk. Then bought it when cassettes came out, then CD's, now it is part of my stream library. It's still jams. Timeless music!!

I hear ya there. I got into Brian Auger when he had the Trinity w/Julie Driscol with the album Streetnoise. Then I saw him play a in podunk town with a band called Eloy. It was the second version of Oblivion Express (w/ Steve Ferrone on drums). Blew them proggers off the stage too

Never seen this band before but I do tend to click “PLAY” when KZbin offers me a Rockpalat concert. I briefly had a “Close but no guitar” moment but after a while, the cold turkey settled down and I was able to appreciate the band for the sheer talent that is within. I like the clean and clear sound that this uncluttered band produces, it allows the skill of every musician to be heard. Nice job.

It looks like Auger's playing a chop--a Hammond organ chopped down to make it more portable. In other words, a real tonewheel Hammond. But the sound is so clean it sounds like an old digital Hammond clone, not a real Hammond. It may be that he's swapped the tube preamp to a solid state preamp, and is running it directly into the PA instead of a tube Leslie. (I don't see a Leslie here.) It wouldn't matter so much if it was a bigger band but I don't like his sound. The electric piano from the synth also sounds a little fakey. Kronos or even Fantom G has a better electric piano patch I think.
