Der Kosmos von Fu Manchu ist klar strukturiert: Umhüllt von schnurgeradem Stoner Rock und garniert mit oft verschleppten Riffs, dreht sich die Textwelt der Band um bewährte Konstanten. Wo die Kalifornier sind, sind immer auch Gedanken über Autofahren, Frauen, Wellenreiten, Skateboards und paranormale Phänomene wie zum Beispiel UFOs.
Ein bisschen unstet ging es bei der Band nur in ihren Anfangstagen zu. Da wechselten die Musiker bei Fu Manchu mitunter schneller, als man „Blaubeerpfannkuchen“ sagen kann. Seit Scott Reeder sich aber 2001 hinter das Schlagzeug setzte, ist das Line-up von Fu Manchu so konstant wie das in einem Schlager-Titel beschriebene Naturphänomen: Immer wieder geht die Sonne auf.
Beim Personal setzen Fu Manchu seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten auf Bewährtes, und musikalisch sind die Musiker sogar noch länger über alle Zweifel erhaben. Seit 1987 überzeugen und prägen die Kalifornier mit kompromisslosem Stoner Rock die Szene; es gilt: it’s fuzzy, it’s riffy, it’s straight. Dafür stehen Song-Klassiker wie „Evil Eye“ und „King Of The Road“, und dafür steht auch das 2018er-Album „Clone Of The Universe“.
Sänger, Gitarrist und Gründungsmitglied Scott Hill sieht das Soundkonzept der Band so: „Niemand will eine Fu-Manchu-Platte, die wie ein Reggae-Album klingt. Wenn du ein Album von uns kaufst, weißt du, dass es heavy und fuzzy klingen wird, mit ein paar langsamen und schnellen Teilen zwischendurch“.

I 100% support putting this entire show on a live album for all streaming services! Roadburn 2003 was really great, but I think this is just as good if not better! All the solos are super tight and everything flows like fucking magic! Fu Manchu will be in my heart forever, one of the greatest bands in the studio and on stage! Mad respect!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Their latest work hit like a ton of bricks, as alot of us listening to the premier here on KZbin, it some how got heavily spiritual with many attending the premier.
