Great, loving, generous people. So glad they got over the "sticker shock!" I'd like to remind all of you who are thanking these stellar humans that YOU too can be just like them------ yes, you can! PLEASE don't support breeders, reputable or otherwise. Adopt, don't shop. There are too too too many many many homeless animals waiting in shelters and many healthy dogs, etc., are being euthanized. Please donate or volunteer. Fostering is the most important of all. You take one dog home to get used to living in a home or simply give them a break from the shelter noise and stress. The space they leave will make it possible to save another dog. Oh, I hear what you're saying. You'd want to take them all home or you'd want to keep the foster (no shame in that) but you can't always. Think about the love and fun you can provide and share while spending time with shelter animals or fostering them in your home home and with your pets or children.... Let's sacrifice our potential grief and inconvenience to save a pet. It's not about you. They need us. Please help!!! Be brave.

Yes, that's so frequently the case. If you loved the deceased, who loved their doggo, or cat, or bird, then you'd think they'd give the animal a home....but, you know, sometimes it turns out better for them as in Theo's case. I did this a few times myself and never regretted it for a minute.

Adopting a senior and/or special needs animal companion, as long as you can meet their needs, can be the most rewarding experience in your life. Sometimes with senior dogs their previous owner died or couldn't care for them anymore. And sometimes the animal can appear to be unadoptible because the trauma of being in the shelter freaks them out. It's quite likely the most frightening experience in their lives.

What a great thing you have done, helping this dog get healthy so he can truly enjoy life in his last years. It breaks my heart when i see people who allow their dogs to become obese. It is so hard on them and really prevents them from enjoying their lives, they already dont live long enough. An obese dog dies years earlier and in pain and misery. Please, please, keep your dog at a reasonable weight.

As I got older I decided my next dog would be a small dog because I needed to be able to pick it up and carry it. My last dog was 45 pounds and whenever the elevator went out in my building I had to carry her up the stairs as she got unable to manage them. That was fine at the time, but I thought maybe the next one should be no bigger than 30 pounds. Then I got the love of my life, 3.1 pounds when she was 6 weeks old, now 16 pounds and I'm a total convert to small dogs. She's 10 years old now and going very strong and rules me utterly. Nothing could be better.

Thank you for helping him. But please do not let him run loose without a harness and lead. To many times I've seen video's and heard stories of hawks sweep down and take off with the dog and coyotes snatch them too. A harness and lead on your wrist can stop save them sometimes.

Hawks sweep down and fly away with dogs and cats.....you might not think they could pick up some dogs that are not that little but they can and do😢😢
