MRBBALLMAN10 Perhaps but if I were "held back" a grade, I wouldn't be bragging (making highlight videos) about my 15/16 son slam dunking on 13/14 kids. There is a reason why they have 14U, 15U, etc, etc (there is no 14-15 team in the AAU for a purpose). For example, my son was 5'11'' at 13 but at 14 he stands 6'5". For the record, the intended purpose of the grade exception rule is to give kids (typically smaller physically) additional time to develop. If a kid is 6'6" he doesn't need "help" aside from cheating the system. In some cases these kids were held back twice. NOTE: If you need to repeat a grade that many times then basketball if the least of your worries. HINT: If these kids are really 'bout it, 'bout it, and need to repeat the 8th grade, why not have them PLAY UP to their age group (this NEVER happens though). Then you can make a highlight video! I've seen what happens later on when they are force to play their age group and they look rather lost. ACT your AGE and PLAY your AGE!
