I thought of this too, but finally, it appears that Gintama have a story, and a fxcking nice one. The level of foreshadowing is equal, or may be better than in One Piece. It is the only anime where i could cry of laugh, sadness and hapiness because it was beautiful

its good from the beginning. im only at episode ~65 but i laughed so hard all the time. i didnt know anything about the anime before i watched the first few episodes, so i was really surprised how they suddenly switch from pure comedy into serious, action-packed fighting scenes. love it so much.

Gintama is special in the fact that it switches genres alot. They of course have many comedy episodes but they also have very deep, action packed arcs that are just amazing. If you give Gintama a second chance I know you won't regret it.

Broockle The first serious arc starts at episode 59 and after that there will be more serious arc coming and much more frequently than the first half of Gintama but the show will predominantly stay a comedy show. That being said, their serious moment's are absolutely amazing in my opinion. So I do hope you continue to watch the show, Gintama starts of slow but becomes an amazing anime soon enough. :)
