"So, Steve tried to break up with me over toothpaste. And I scared him into staying with me." I love you both so much, especially you, Nikki. I really love the honesty of this, because we all know relationships have ups and downs. And it's funny, I've been with my boyfriend for almost five years now, and we argue very rarely now, but we argued a lot in the beginning. There's something to be said about the early stages...you don't really know someone until you live with them, and it takes awhile before you understand each other.
@ashliepilcher5 жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely so right. My boyfriend and I have been together 5 years, and it recently hit the 2 year mark of living together. And the most recent parts of our relationship has been the best. We understand each other so much more, and we’ll obviously always be learning about and one another. It fantastic, and 10x more fun than the beginning parts. This has literally been our honey moon phase ❤️

@user-eu1rh2nm8j4 жыл бұрын
@@juliemargar7444 That is not fair to say.....the cheated on person only has the experience of having a monogamous relationship with the cheater and prob thinks they can handle it. When u cheated on someone, u broke that person. U can't expect them to be just as strong anymore. The cheating became a part of your relationship, due to the cheater, so take responsibility.

I just got out of my first relationship, which also happened to last 5 years. I'm now in my mid-twenties and having to readjust my entire life - even down to stupid things, like grocery shopping for one, instead of two. People like you two, who can be honest about faults in their relationship, but how to make it work anyway, give me hope that true, loving relationships can last. Keep up the good work Nikki, and Steve.
@Zomy_Streams5 жыл бұрын
This is kind of similar to my boyfriend and my relationship. Long story short we got together at 15, VERY young and VERY immature. We fought ALL THE TIME and had terrible jealously. We were together for a loooong time having big blow up fights, using “breaking up” as a weapon, for a couple years. Don’t get me wrong we were absolutely head over heals in love but we just weren’t compatible and absolutely didn’t know how to communicate. We seriously broke up for 3 months and used the time apart to grow as people. When we got back together we learned how to communicate and the jealously and anger basically went away. We aren’t perfect and still fight sometimes but we never use breaking up as a weapon and we ALWAYS talk it out after a fight. We’ve been together almost 9 years now.
@hihirblx5 жыл бұрын
Wow! That's really cool to hear that you guys got through that and are still together. This might be asking for tmi but I'm genuinely curious, do you both really not get jealous anymore? Like even if he talks to another girl or you talk to another guy?
@Zomy_Streams5 жыл бұрын
A D No jealousy whatsoever. A lot of it comes with age and maturity. But we also have a lot of trust for each other and don’t give the other person reason to be jealous.
@Zomy_Streams5 жыл бұрын
A D For example, he turned 21 before I did. He went out with a lot of people, including lots of girls, and of course I couldn’t tag along because I couldn’t get into the bars. Before I would have been absolutely sick with jealousy over him getting drunk with other girls, but I completely trust him and had no issue with it whatsoever.
@lizziemartin61135 жыл бұрын
He may be faithful but getting drunk with other girls (married couples or just couples are different) is a recipe for disaster. I wouldn't deal with that and I feel normal for that. No offense..I don't mean that sarcastically either..I really mean that I don't mean any harm..this is just my thoughts.
@Zomy_Streams5 жыл бұрын
Lizzie Martin It was probably a bad example because it’s not like it’s an all the time occurrence. Probably a better example would be, if we’re invited to his brothers for a party, I would feel comfortable going to bed while he stays up with everyone (yes even if it was just girls). I think it definitely depends on the couple.

I think there are two hurdles that my bf and I had to overcome when getting together. I’m really sensitive and he’s really sarcastic. So I got mad at him a lot for being sarcastic and it hurt my feelings. He had to learn what not to say and I had to learn to just laugh at some of his sarcasm that perhaps I was being overly sensitive about. Also I’m very open and in his last relationship she would lash out at him and it would come out in an evil way. Whereas with me, I just say what bothers me when it bothers me. I don’t let it all out at once. He had to get accepting with that. I think he helped me become a little less sensitive and I helped him become a little more.

Nikki I've just realised, the majority of your stuff I watch, I often watch it because of your dynamic with Steve - I often watch the first 2 mins of your Tasty Tuesdays and then skip to the last 2 mins where you give it to Steve and then you have a little bit of banter and jokes together and it's really funny and sweet.. This isn't me saying I don't like your solo content, or that I like Steve's content over yours (I don't actually think I'm even subscribed to Steve) it's me saying that when you both combine and do a video together it's reliably very very good stuff. This is why I think that you've gotten so many hits on your JK News videos when you're together, your comedy kind of multiplies off each other and goes from very funny solo to absolutely hilarious together. It's why I've listened to all of your 'Sh*t they don't tell you' podcasts, you're both very knowledgable and funny people, and together you really crack me up. So I'm glad you're doing this new format together, keep it up, but don't give in to too much pressure to be together all the time otherwise you might find you don't have enough space in your relationship and it might affect your quality of comedy (or the quality of your relationship as a whole!). Anyway, thankyou for being a positive influence in my life and in the lives of the rest of your fans, and keep it up. Say hi to Franklin for me x

Steve I understand that predicament completely, I often encounter people who out of completely nowhere (to me at least) think I'm super full of myself, arrogant, looking down on everyone around me, which is pretty astonishing since that's fairly incompatible with the fact that until recently I had 0 self esteem what so ever. Something in the way I speak and the way I act makes me come across that way. It's a struggle
@Un1234l5 жыл бұрын
I'm in the same boat. I've noticed a lot of nice, humble, caring, altruistic, down-to-earth people are as well. What I think it is is that when we're out in public, we either display so much intense inner conviction-or so much insular, apathetic confusion, hurt, lostness-that to the outside-looking-in, we look so into-our-own-world, "and are therefore stuck-up". I really think that's the case from my years of observations, after repeatedly having people tell me they thought I was stuck-up but were wrong once they got to know me more, and after having experimented by adjusting my behaviour many times to account for this; this is also after observing and studying why this happens to many other people. So I'm thinking the extroverted population at large focuses more on maintaining appearances and making quick initial judgments, so if they see an introvert/a quiet person who sticks out in their aura (presence), as if they are not a part of the larger collective (because of so much inner confidence, or low self-esteem), they default to categorizing these people as _other_ instead of _same._ Then if these _questionable_ introverts speak in a calm, aloof way instead of extroverted elatedness like they're used to, or in a calm and warm way, they default to thinking that these people's calmness, aloofness, and being-in-their-own-world is due to them being stuck-up and arrogant, failing to consider all other possibilities that don't involve labelling them as people-to-be-wary-of. People probably act incredibly tentative around you when they first meet you, right? They probably also are the ones approaching you, not the other way around, and it's probably also the really extroverted ones. It's them feeling you out because your presence sticks out while being aloof (rare), and this inability to pinpoint why you stick out leads to them being proactive and feeling you out to see if it's because you're a stuck-up asshole or not. I don't know why people don't default to just thinking you're just innocently minding your own business, but it's probably because a calm, aloof introvert with a strong presence is so rare to them, being surrounded by many sociable people and so many quiet introverts with invisible/conforming presences; basically it's them lacking perspective while trying to reconcile and understand their unease about you. This is all just speculation on the little information you gave. But if all this is an accurate assessment: if you want less people to assume you're an asshole, present yourself as being less aloof and insular; be more gregarious and warm. However, many people find a certain sexiness and intrigue in being confident and aloof, so you might want to balance that strategy or apply it only in certain situations. PS: Now that I think about it, I'm realizing people only started to mention they were wrong about me after I happened to be in my gregarious and warm moods, being less insular.
