That competing narrative victory moment is so fascinating! Thanks for sharing this!

I agree, yes! It feels so perfect for a game like this. :) Really looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Great video, thank you! Just one small correction when you mention the Priority cards… the Casualties one refers to the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) casualties, so they are trying to keep that number low, while if their opponents select the Casualties card it means that they are trying to drive up the ISF casualties. At the end of the game there is a system for calculating victory point penalties for ISF units that only have one step remaining, as well as for their opponents left on the board. I have played the game with 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, and in solo mode, and I cannot speak highly enough about it! Thanks again for a great video and I have Subscribed.

Oh, thanks for the clarification! I definitely got that backwards. Much appreciated. I've added a correction note to the video description. And that's great to hear that you've found it a great playing experience. I'm excited to dig in. :)

Good to see a game about a different conflict. Just right for wargamers like me that are tired of fighting the same wars for the Nth time. Will be very interesting to fight with armies that are both of less than stellar ability. And the chance of both players claiming victory at the end will slot right in with my friends' way to always argue about the outcome at the end of the match.
@ZillaBlitz Жыл бұрын
Yes! I can just see games ending and the two sides keep arguing over who won. :)

This is a huge issue for game designers. Victory conditions. Of course players need something to achieve, but who won many historical battles is still argued to this day. The short answer is it's war, nobody wins, but that doesn't really work for a game.😊 This is especially so if you start figuring casualties. Did Pyrhus win?
@ZillaBlitz Жыл бұрын
To be fair, the game does have that absolute victory point total metric that you can use, so there is a system for determining a winner with more clarity. :)

This sounds really interesting -- I like when designers push boundaries like this. Looking forward to the playthrough (and Phantom Fury mentioned in the comments also looks interesting)

Yes, this one is almost to the top of the list and I hope to bring some gameplay video to the channel soon. I haven't had a chance to check out Phantom Fury yet. :)

What a beautiful map! I also like the competing victory narratives built into the game. Years ago, when I had a regular wargaming group, we found ourselves doing this anyway, regardless of the game's set victory conditions :)

Ha! Yes, if you have friends who like to argue about who won, this is the perfect game! :)

Yes, I'm curious how it all comes together. The capabilities cards and victory track preference really makes it feel as if there are dozens of pre-game strategies you could emphasize.

Very nice presentation, thank you. Any chance of a gameplay vid, ideally solitaire? I've just been griping on BGG that there is so little out there.

This one is actually on my shortlist of games to make a gameplay video for. There are 2-3 games in front of it, but it shouldn't be much longer. Most likely March. :)

@@ZillaBlitz Hi Zilla, it was released in 2011. There is apparently a reprint planned.

Oh, that makes sense, thanks!

@@ZillaBlitz I'm pre-ordering the reprint as well as there's going to be a few extras and it's just an amazing game. If you've ever read "House to House", "We Were One", "No True Glory" etc about the 2nd Battle of Fallujah, the game plays exactly like those. One of the most immense games I have ever played. I wrote a review over on BGG about it. Easily in my top 5 wargames of all time.
