This scene's a big part of why the White Knight is my favorite "Alice" character. He may be old and eccentric, but he has a strong sense of honor and a heart filled with compassion and courage, everything that a good knight should have.

This was always my favorite version of Alice and Wonderland. I ran across the DVD and had to get it, and I'm so glad I did! Wonderful songs and performances, and this was one of my favorite parts.

The White Knight is always one of my favorite Alice characters. I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis Carroll intended the absent-minded, eccentric, valiant knight to be how he inserted himself into the story, as many childrens' authors do.

This production was kind of a rare thing even back in the day. The production was Irwin Allen, lyrics by Steve Allen. I don't think a soundtrack was ever produced, which is a shame. I would have loved to own one, it's so ingrained in my childhood. You could pull the track from the DVD, maybe...

They sure don't make movies like this anymore. I really miss my childhood. What a lovely scene by the way.

This is definitely the best part of the mini series. I actually like this departure from the Lewis Carroll text.

It’s really heartwarming how father and son both got to be in this all-star televised production of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice stories. That’s Lloyd Bridges, AKA Steve McCroskey from Airplane! and RADM Thomas “Tug” Benson from Hot Shots!, as the White Knight and his son Beau plays the Unicorn. It’s rare to see father and son playing different roles in the same production.

Yes I agree with those who love this all time classic from 1985, and they are 100 % percent right about it, for this movie version is by far the best, and the most amazing movie ever, And has the most amazing musical numbers, and songs ever done, for this spectacular production.

@ObiWanBillKenobi Yeah, that's a possibility. Kind of like how, in 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,' C.S. Lewis rather clearly intended for the Professor in it to be a nod to himself.

I hadn't seen this movie in over 20 years until tonight and it's still wonderful...much better than the 2010 version (no offense to those that like it).

I can't wait, either! I wonder if that version will have the White Knight in it? If so, I hope he's as charming as he is in this!

Well, if you need an off-vocal track, I think you're best bet would be to find a musician who can reproduce the song for you. There's lots of musicians that do that sort of thing around the 'net.

At the end of part 1 where Alice is looking through the mirror and see's her mother and father...but they can't see her...her father has a mustache like the white knight here...I wonder if the White Knight reminded her of her father

I see the White Knight as a grandfatherly figure to Alice.

Is that a younger Robert Duval in old man make up?
@hunterolaughlin3 жыл бұрын
Nope. It’s Lloyd Bridges AKA Steve McCroskey from Airplane! and RADM Thomas “Tug” Benson from Hot Shots! Also the father of Jeff Bridges and Beau Bridges, who also appears as the Unicorn in this adaptation too.

This version of Alice IS bad. It is. It’s just a campy saccharine mess of a mini series dripping in 80s garishness bastardizing Lewis Carroll WITH THAT SAID, this sequence is the best sequence in the entire thing. It’s so charming, most of the characters in the Alice story are so relentlessly mean to her that to have this grandpa and granddaughter type moment was really smart and almost can make you tear up.
