WE ARE FLEET AIR ARM - Lieutenant Max Cosby

Max Cosby is a Wildcat Observer and Flight Commander, serving on 815NAS. He has spent the last 4 years operating the Lynx HMA 8 and Wildcat HMA2 helicopters from ashore and afloat all over the world.

The Royal Navy (RN) has taken him on numerous adventures across the globe and he has been privileged enough to have visited some fascinating and beautiful places, whilst conducting a whole variety of flying and naval tasking during his twenties .🚁
Max joined the RN after reading history and playing hockey at Newcastle University. During his early career he spent 18 months working in the Ministry of Defence Press Office and on the Royal Navy Public Relations team. 🌊
Having spent time at sea onboard a variety of warship’s, Max gained his bridge watch keeping ticket.
In 2011 the RN provided Max with the opportunity of a sponsored polo course and he was hooked. While Max was doing his job, over subsequent years he has managed to fit in a surprisingly large amount of polo in the UK and whilst deployed, sharing his love and knowledge of the sport with his fellow oppo’s. 🐴
Max has enjoyed playing polo in Jamaica, Australia, Malaysia and Malta all thanks to the various ports visited whilst embarked as a flight tin various ships.
He became Secretary of RN polo in 2019 and hopes to continue maximising his time in the cockpit and in the saddle whilst actively encouraging everyone and anyone to give the sport a go, all ranks, ages and ability welcome 🚁
