We are keeping the Cat 316 Excavator! Taking it to the welding shop to weld it up and make it better

I know that bottomless pit in the stomach feeling very well. I wanted a 315cl .when I found one and bought it I was so happy. Then I go to buy a part and find out none of the parts matched the vin . Come to find out he swapped the hr meter and advised it as 3 years newer. Worst part was he was a big dealer so I never ran the vin before buying it because I wasn’t expecting a dealer that size to pull that kind of crap. Kept the machine .it was what I wanted and just sued him for the difference. All good now but I feel your frustration.

I watched that video you did about that. Yea same kinda situation Big dealer never though they would do that and I could trust them. I ended up putting a new motor in it too. Its a good machine now but if I had looked at it in person I would never have bought it. I learned my lesson on that one.

@@orschellexcavating5810i just went to look at a 2021 cat 313gc.. im in Northern Ontario Canada, drove 7 hours south over to Quebec. Im glad I did instead of seeing the price and figuring 130k, great deal... Get in the machine things are way different then my cousins 2021 313 but top model not the GC.. but that was fine until I started to swing and could hear a clicking coming from the turn table.. Swung back and forth and could hear it but not terribly loud but even with the door and front window open I could hear it.. So I was standing at the bank 7 hours away from home like 400 miles one way, and yea I said nah fck this man, I cant buy this thing and have to split it in half, the Vin doesnt match to Canada, They said it maybe from the UK, I call the UK, no answer because it was 1pm Eastern time, they had just closed 6pm in the Uk..got ahold of them next day and they said they never heard of it.. so glad I just walked away because its all the money Ive got to throw into it other then working for a wage and making 4k a month, wont cover a rebuild lol So I am looking at a 316FL, 2018 with 6K hours no thumb but quick coupler.. 127k Canadian.. and another one 316EL 2015with 7k hours but no coupler, at 113, might go with a prolink thumb on that one and go down to see it.. Caterpillar dealer is selling it

Atleast your moving forward on it. You should have them slap a progressive link thumb on it while it's at the welder.

This has been a common problem with cat and they really need to design it better. We had a boom snap off at the top of the boom cylinders and just the day before we were setting pipe with a crew in the ditch. Could have killed someone.

I know its very dangerous. Guy at the welding shop said they repair them all the time.

I only ran the next gen 315 for a few minutes. My buddy Dustin has the 317 next gen and he loves it. I almost bought one,it’s cat I am sure they kick ass!
