To insulate bare metal try fiberglass cloth impregnated with 100% clear silicon rtv. Thin the rtv with a little lacquer thinner to make it easy to lay up. Lay the silicon on heavy so it doesn’t get too dry when the solvent diffuses out Halve fun and come back with a full charge!

Copper work hardens, as you drill it you are making the copper harder. Together with the copper heating up makes drilling soo much worse. A new, sharp drill bit, go slow, and peck at the copper, get those chips out of there otherwise it will bind up on the drill bit and jam-up the bit in the hole and subsiquently break it. Using a drill press for copper is best.

Hi Andy just wondering what you have set the output on that Orion converter to? That little pot is adjustable for the 12 V output I’m sure you know this. Perhaps a setting more like a power supply output would be more suitable say 13.5 V? What are your thoughts? I
@OffGridGarageAustralia2 жыл бұрын
I have not touched it and left it as it is. My load is not that critical and a rough 12V power supply is fine. But yeah, you can adjust the output voltage and also use this device as a charger for lithium batteries. The voltage can be adjusted between 12-15V as you know. Even they are not cheap at all but I like the fact that it is isolated, has constant current and can be paralleled. Do you use them for your installations as well. Together with Paul's batteries?

Back when I built houses I would grab a bucket to stand on if a proper ladder was out of reach.
