Great video - I was wondering about carbon in New England with all our chunk, but glad to see they are holding up well for you! The 1/1 build is definitely on my wish list.

Any noticeable increase in pedal kickback during rowdy descents on the La Sal with the quick engagement of the hydra hub?
@porties-and-pedals2 жыл бұрын
None at all that I can feel. But I’m not a racer or hard/ very good rider. It’s something I think you’d only experience that on a slow hard landing (and if you’re holding the rear brake). I don’t think there’s a ton of chain growth with compression on the La Sal compared to other enduros.

Curious if these rims had a rough ride compared to the Flows. I’m considering these rims but don’t want to feel beat up after a ride. Thanks a bunch

I noticed absolutely no difference in harshness compared to the stans flows. If anything they don't seem to "buzz" or "vibrate" as much through high speed small bumps or big hits/dings. To be fair, I'm not the best rider to be asking this question if I'm being honest. I'd put myself at an intermediate skill level, so more advanced riders may have different opinions.

Have you broken alloy rims in the past with your regular riding?
@porties-and-pedals2 жыл бұрын
I have dinged a few, but never fully broken. Folks I ride with have broken alloy rims and spokes pretty frequently though. I have a buddy who is 135lbs and rides a 165mm bike with absolutely destroyed wheels (front and back).NE rocks are unforgiving!!

Nice wheel, I've got the same. If you want them quiet, put a dab of Dumonde Tech Pro-X freehub grease on the pawls. Takes 5 minutes. They are quite loud from the factory and the grease really quiets them down.

I’ll give that a shot thank you!

How much psi do you usually run? Are you using tire inserts? TIA
@porties-and-pedals2 жыл бұрын
No tire inserts. If I know the terrain and it isn’t rocky, I’ll run 20 front 22 rear. If it’s very rocky or high speed I’ll do 24 front 26 rear. Im about 175-180lbs fully kitted up for a ride.

@@porties-and-pedals i see. there's really no need to put inserts just to protect the rims. thanks!
@porties-and-pedals2 жыл бұрын
@@titoton if you’re a very heavy rider and ride particularly aggressive terrain I think inserts make a lot of sense. Either that or run DD tires instead of Exo

@@porties-and-pedals inserts are pointless unless you're morbidly obese. They just take up space that could be used by air. And if you're running WR1 wheels, just fuckin bust em. You'll get a new one if you manage to break one of them by riding
@porties-and-pedals2 жыл бұрын
@@BuffiestFluff I kind of disagree with this in a few ways. Inserts will change the progressiveness of a tire. It's kind of like the equivalent of put a token in an air shock. They will also definitely help reduce pinch flats which is independent of the rim you run. I also think it's not totally fair to push the bounds of the lifetime warranty from WAO. Those costs eventually trickle down to either WAO or consumers via price hikes. Replacing the rims is time off when you could be riding, and a broken rim could mean an injury or a long hike-a-bike. Long story short, inserts can be a good tool for some, don't totally discount them!
