During the early hours of April 27th, disaster struck for Team Holcim-PRB as their boat dismasted, leading to the urgent need to get the crew back to shore safely. Once they were back ashore, focus turned to getting the boat repaired and ready for the start of Leg 5 in Newport.

Well, it's 180sqm or 100kg of plastic waste that is being dumped directly into the ocean. But who cares in view of the environmental destruction that the Holcim Group causes while making money.

Back in the days the race would have been over... and that´s called bad luck. Today you just have to throw obscene amounts of money at a project, transfer a sailing boat with a crude oil vessel to the next starting point, get a new 10th of thousands Dollar worth mast and off you go again. That´s the true spirit of the "Race With A Purpose", right? I´m pretty sure that the other teams would act similar... Ahh, ok, Holcim is a company which is dealing with building materials in Germany and the Netherlands. This branch is part of the construction industry, which is responsible for approximately 40% of CO2 emissions worldwide. Makes sense, right? Really a "green" and "circular"purpose.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Holcim PRB to make it to Newport in time to be able to do all the necessary repairs. Also great attitude from Kevin Escoffier keeping the spirits high event hough it must be very frustrating.

In a way, Holcim is totally participating in Leg 4, just in a very different and unexpected way. So many tense hours, such team focus, such commitment! All the best to this exciting endeavor. Looking at the broken mast, it is a miracle no one got hurt. This update very much appreciated.

Why not add the tracker of the cargo ship to the race tracker, would be interesting to see the progress. What's the name of the cargo ship? Also a tracker of the cargo ship carrying the new mast would be nice to see....

How many thousands of tons of diesel are being used , ? Bang goes the green label , and then the transport of the new mast,boom,outriggers... oh just think you have a plastic badge to inform people you are a green team,,, lol
