At 8:22 It is up for debate when the internet started, because ARPA-net (later DARPA-net, and then later again it was NAMED the internet) started all the way back in 1959/60. One could also make the argument that the internet, as we known it today, is much younger, as it was only commercially available around 1989.

Arpanet didn't function nor was it intended for what we use the internet for today, so "The Internet" is mostly a separate entity.
@QaRajhCreations4 жыл бұрын
@@aye_its_sparky7164 That's just it, the main idea behind the internet was to connect computers, creating the net, so if we're looking at "the internet" as a function, ARPA-net had the same function, roughly, as the internet, it wasn't available to most people, but the functions it had are basically the same, just much more efficient. That is the argument for the internet dating back to 1960. If we instead look at when the phrase "internet" was coined, 1983 is correct, but here most of the public did not have access either, so the "what we use the internet for today" argument doesn't hold up there either.
