I love my Vandoren reeds but I have to disagree with the consistency claim! I play Bb clarinet no. 3 reeds and there's only about 6/10 in a box that are playable for me. But I've heard from much more experienced players than myself that the closer you get to Paris the more quality the reeds are haha!
I'm now in a relationship with my black diamond BD5 mouthpiece

Maybe you guys should make a video on how to break in your reeds. Out of the 10 vandoren reed's i've bought, none were playable.

vandoren reeds are usually harder and more expensive compared to rico and it takes alittle while to get used to but in the long run its worth it! you should probably start on a 2 or 2.5 and then work your way up ;)

im 14, and have been using vandoren #2 reeds since i was in 5th grade, just starting off on alto sax. i used to use ricos, and my band teacher told me they suck. so i bought vandorens and ever since, i never willingly went back to a rico reed (except when all my vandorens got stolen and all i had was a rico plastic cover series reed #3 reed)

I'm curious to know how climate change will effect came quality in the future. I wonder if Vandoren has already taken steps to address this possibly big problem in the future. I really love using Vandoren reeds!

Reeds are a natural product of the environment...it is impossible to make sure they all play the same AND they won't because of that. That's why you need to build up the chops to adjust to different reeds and/or learn to adjust reeds or another option is synthetic reeds their are some good ones out there

how does a reed taste
@ankitjoshi950412 жыл бұрын
yes, but the ratio of finding bad vandoren reeds is much much lower than rico, due to French coastal climate

I like vandoren reeds, but not everyone is good, 50% of them out of the box need adjustment. but of course this is going to be a bit biased

Are you a fellow Vandoren reed player
@coltoncrawfordjazz12 жыл бұрын
They quality of vandoren cane is very good but I also play on orange box rico's as well sometimes. I've come to find that reeds are just a crap shoot in general a good reed is a good reed and bad reed is a BAD reed no matter what brand it is - rant over.

Yes. I hate buying a box full of crappy reeds.

Ever since about last year all your reeds don't work or play right. I have a feeling you guys are "cutting corners."

yeah i just learned how to adjust reeds with sand paper, smh

vandoren is awesome but like others say you get a box of crap sometimes granted Rico's usually are sub par to a good vandoren when i get Rico's they are all the same and somewhat playable for 15-20 dollars while it costs around 30 to get 3-5 good reeds at best now a days from a vandoren box.

The mouthpieces are amazing for the price but in comparison to a Clark Fobes or Richard Hawkins, they not that good. The reeds ar horrible, yes there better than RICO and they are pretty consistent but Morre reeds and Peter Leuthner reeds shine above all other reeds.
