My wife is from Chengdu Sichuan, when i went there or 2 weeks i ate Mala for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In Chengdu most of their dishes are mala dishes (super spicy and numbing) and usually i like it extremely spicy. This challenge would be ok for me i think.

I learnt from my favourite szhechuan mala steamboat restaurant's lady boss ( who is from china) that apparently, when you eat mala and drink cold drinks, you'll get a stomach ache. According to her, the locals over there don't drink cold drinks with their mala for that reason. I couldn't understand the part she said about what they drank instead hehe. Idk if it applies to this style of mala, but i've also never tried eating mala steamboat without cold drinks cos the sensation of cold drinks + spice feels shiok to me XD
