Other countries dubbed Ruby with a male voice actor and/or treated her as a boy. Even in the English dub, my cousins thought she was a boy despite everyone referring to her as "she" in the show. My cousins asked "They switched?" when they saw Ruby's dress, and their minds were blown when I told them that Ruby was never a boy. Putting Ruby in a wedding dress instead of Sapphire was a HUGE "middle finger" to every country that tried to pass Ruby off as male to keep away the truth that this was a WLW relationship. That's why it was never shown in several countries; the episode was banned. But in the US, it paved the way for LGBTQIA+ representation across TV marketed to kids. And after her wedding, Garnet wears both wedding bands from then on, one on each hand.

One of my favorite parts of the show is that they made his dad a millionaire and he basically doesn't change at all besides being okay with buying things now. Not that he buys new things, but the only change is that he isn't stressed about buying a new hose or new van or something like that. One of the saddest things I’ve learned about this show is that Rebecca Sugar (the creator) confirmed that the gems need light to grow and that leaves us to realize that Pink Diamond might’ve been the smallest because the other diamonds constantly locked her up in that room with only one small, very high up window. I love Pink Diamond and think her character is super interesting. As is the fact that we see her journey in reverse. I wish we knew more about her and the other Diamonds

We never see gems naturally grow over time, and whenever we see a gem coming from the ground in a kindergarten, they start out fully grown. Yeah, unfortunately it was the wedding that sealed the deal for them. Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon are all international, and they couldn’t risk airing anything overtly controversial, which of course became an issue since Steven Universe (and the Owl House since we’re on the topic of shows canceled for LGBT rep) are unapologetically queer. Even in the US it became a point of contention, and CN is a business above all else. Rebecca went thru hell and back to get everything that was aired out, out- and her determination (and success in) doing so inspired so many shows to challenge that system. Mad respect.

The Steven universe light trilogy are actually really fucking good games, nobody talks about them enough but they have awesome soundtracks, including characters with musical abilities that add to the tracks, which is really fucking cool to listen to, they are, without a shred of irony, some of my favorite rpgs, but I also really liked the Mario and Luigi rpgs which have similar gameplay (and I would also recommend those if you were to ask)

I can completely understand why Ruby felt so alive not being Garnet because having that future vision that's constantly telling you what's gonna happen would kind of rob you of any real experience like say yiu wanted to go skydiving, Garent would be able to see that future and then the experience is almost stolen in a way

2:47:02 The voice that comes out of White Diamond's Pearl is not Dee Dee Magno-Hall like it is for all the other Pearls. It's Christine Ebersole, who voices White Diamond, because White is controlling this Pearl (soon to be nicknamed Volleyball.) Also, when people saw White Pearl and her creepy blank expression, heard her voice, and saw where her Gem is (Blue and Yellow's Pearls' Gems are on their chests like their Diamonds' Gems), they immediately theorized that she used to belong to Pink, which Rebecca had to admit was very on-the-nose for a character the audience had just met. Now I'd like a concrete answer if Crystal Gem Pearl used to belong to White since her Gem is on her forehead like White's Gem, and why Crystal Gem Pearl is the only Pearl with an oval Gem instead of a perfect circle like all the other Pearls we see. Is that a defect? Or was she intentionally made that way?
