Life for the Pompeiians wasn't too different from modern life. They've even recently discovered that the Pompeiians had their own fast-serve street food! Imagine how the buildings and streets must have been bursting with COLORS back when all the paint was intact and fresh! GREAT that you took that side-trip instead of just staying on the cruise ship the whole time (yes, the cruise ship was amazing but .you'd have kicked yourselves had you missed the Amalfi, Pompeii,etc.). Thanks for this!

Travel tip videos. Things like packing, essentials, how to get sorted and cover the basics, vlogging for beginners (I finished a diploma in media and film making at TAFE in 2019 and I would like to attempt some travel vlogging on social media of my own). My girlfriend and I have booked to go to New Zealand later this year and Japan next year for holidays. I'm a Maori from Auckland, New Zealand but moved to Perth, Australia when I was 10...I'm 24 now so I've been here a long time. My girlfriend is Australian and never been to New Zealand so her and I are celebrating our 5-Year relationship anniversary and going to New Zealand for 21 days in September. We are also visiting Japan in March 2023 for 3 weeks which will be a new country for the both of us.

I remember as a young teen going to the museum of WA to see the special touring Pompei exhibit......and being both saddened and amazed at the frozen snapshots in time that those "statues" formed by the bodies covered in ash at the moments of their deaths present. Im 54 now and still get that same sense of sadness and amazement at how cruel yet weirdly beautiful nature can be. What a wonderful way for Hunter to learn how others lived. Going, seeing, touching and doing will always be the best way for a kid to learn.

You guys are so, so lucky and very fortunate to live the life you have. I'm Australian (from Geelong but I did live in Perth for 8 years as a little kid). Seeing some successful Aussie travel vloggers is so nice. I'm happy for your happiness and you are a beautiful family. I turn 24 next week and I wish I could say I achieved even a fraction of what you have in my early life! All I've done since I graduated high school in 2016 is do a year of uni, dropped out of my uni degree after 1 year, and spent the last 5 years working full-time in Retail and hospitality jobs. I've felt life kind of just pass me. I spent the last 2.5 years in therapy for mental health and working so much I've managed to save 20KAUD and all I want to do next year is get a working holiday visa somewhere and travel. I am thinking Canada or the UK. A few years ago I didn't even want to be alive but I've been much healthier the last couple years. I want to finally start living. Thank you for showing me what is possible. x

Meh, honey when Stephen and Jess started travelling they were around the age you are now, give or take a year.......set your goals then work to achieve them....and take it from a person who now cant travel....do it while youre young, dont put it off til youre older. You never know what will happen/change down the track and regrets suck. It is a great big world, go explore it.

I am Canadian and there is a place in BC called Whistler, I have been a couple times and majority of the workers there are from Australia- it is apparently easy to get a working visa there and it is absolutely stunning! I made a travel vlog when I went and I think flying the nest has one too

What an amazing experience! 🙌😊 I've never been on a cruise. My girlfriend and I also met in high school just like you and Jess did but we didn't start dating until we we're both 19 and now we're 24. We both work full time, have used the last 2.5 years as an opportunity to save. We're from Perth too. Baldivis area. We are going to New Zealand for 21 days in September for our 5-Year anniversary of our relationship. Only 2 months until we go. We're flying from Perth to Melbourne and then to Auckland and around Rotorua and then all the way South to Queenstown. We went to Kuala Lumpur and the Gold Coast and Brisbane before covid happened and have been waiting until the time was right to book again and I'm excited we're going to visit New Zealand. My girlfriend has never been to New Zealand but I'm from Rotorua and moved to Australia when I was 10 so 14 years ago and I've only been back to visit about 5 times since I left so I'm excited to visit. We have a big list! Planning to do Japan in March 2023 for 3 weeks too.

I was shocked to see how far Pompeii was from the actual volcano. I was like Steve in thinking it was right at the base of it. I loved seeing all of the presentations of the food in the restaurant. Each course was full of exciting new things.

I agree with you, have to sail away with a cocktail, mind you I like any excuse for a cocktail, especially on holiday! @@flyingthenest everything mate, they have discovered a lot from the digs. Did they show you the different shops there? Ie the bakeries etc, they have symbols embedded in the bricks at the front, and I noticed Jess skipping over the cobble stones on the roads, they also made the stones that wide and low so chariots and wagons can pass over and through them. Just some FYI, I purchased a few books at the township near Pompeii, about the history and the digs etc, fascinating stuff. Also, my wife and I at the time went to Rome for our honeymoon when I deployed in the area, we also threw a coin in the fountain. So in 2023, I’ll also go back there, such an amazing place. We had a tour guide with Trafalgar tours who was also former Italian army, we chatted about famous battle sites as we toured around the country.
