The regular train releases tickets a month in advance and you have to book that day to get a seat but I can’t be tied down like that. I changed our itinerary 3 times in 30 days as we learned more about the weather and stayed longer in places we liked. So I was shocked you could just pay a bit more to get this train and not have to fight the crowds on the regular train for photos etc

That looks like such a fun train ride. Great video! Scenery was amazing.

I'm just happy we were able to do it. Everything you read online is that you have to book the train 30 days in advance. This special train was only $15 for the 10 hour ride. More than the regular train but I'll take it!

Ahh thanks for the correction! I was googling "Sri Lankan special brown train" and they gave this description. I didn't see steam so that makes sense.

One technical question I have: How the hell did you get the bird's eye view shots?
@ayngelina2 ай бұрын
The one as we were traveling to Kandy? I had to use stock footage. In Sri Lanka in order to use your drone you have to tell them specifically where you want to fly and when. Then when you’re about to fly you have to call them and then tell them when you’re done. You send an application with all the dates and specific locations and pay a fee. This is easy for tourist destinations when you know you’ll be at them and many of the government employees responsible for each region are on WhatsApp so now you can just text them. There are some rules like at the Ella nine arches you can’t fly your drone under the bridge only above because there are crazy hornets that apparently attack the drone and will follow it to you. But it was impossible to do while on the train as I didn’t think we’d be able to take it so I didn’t apply for that area of Sri Lanka in advance and shooting while traveling obviously would have been tough too.
@judeisurufernando6742 ай бұрын
@@ayngelina Kudos to you because the footage really blends in. On an unrelated note, make sure to keep yourselves hydrated and carry sunscreen everywhere. The heat is especially taxing if one is travelling. Your partner's skin can deal with the intense sunlight but, if you're not careful, you can easily get a nasty sunburn. Happy trails!

@@ayngelina No all tourists know about this and this is a world famous train ride.
@ayngelinaАй бұрын
I would have to disagree here as I didn’t know about it and I told other tourists who did not know either. I’m not sure why you’re so upset that I’m sharing a good option for people who cannot book 30 days in advance.
