As a fellow Utahan, I just have to say that I would have guessed she and those kids were from here. There's a weird number of super blonde, cute kids from large families around here. I married a non-mormon guy here and we had one of those super blonde kids, even though nobody in either family looks like that. It's something in the water.

I have to say, I started watching this, expecting an above-average H.S. production and really, they performed this with top-notch, professional talent. When one considers that the Chicago version this was modeled after was the FILM, which gets plenty of practicing, effects, takes and edits, this truly IS an excellent, incredible performance! Ms. Barrowes went the extra mile to BE the puppet in this piece. I don't know how she kept her dinner down! :) And Mr. Andrus' voice was an outstanding baritone throughout that coupled with the right amount of exuded confidence required for the part. The ONLY negative in all of this was an auditorium/sound system that didn't deserve that level of talent.

What they lack in budget they more than make up for in talent. The singing, the dancing, and the acting were phenomenal, especially Roxie and the lawyer. The lawyer's pipes were great.

Except that the part of Mary Sunshine is written as a man in drag in the Broadway production. Hollywood made her female. This is a copy of the film (including the dialogue before the song). Can I just say that Roxie's outfit is so perfect for this scene? The way it lays on her body, the cut of the neckline, her hair all done up in a way that makes her appear to have a thick top-heavy torso, skinny limbs, long neck, and exaggerated makeup makes her look so much like a ventriloquist doll. Combined with her phenomenal physical acting, she almost doesn't look human. Well done on all accounts in this production.

@ProcInc3 жыл бұрын
Unironically this is definitely one of the best performances of 'Gun' on KZbin. The choreography is mostly taken from the 2002 movie as opposed to the usual stage choreography but it reintroduces some of the best stage elements (particularly the long notes at the end which wouldn't have fit in the movie since why would that be impressive when it isn't live?), we also get to see Roxy's full Charleston performed flawlessly at the end (which the movie literally shows for 0.4 seconds) The rag doll ventriloquist dummy from the movie is so much more comedic and captivating than the stage version of frozen comedic expressions (and makes more sense) and both Roxy's physicality, make-up (props to them) and acting all enhance it And yes, Flynn holds a note here better than some other professional performances I've seen on YT. I'm only sorry they couldn't also do the stage version's dance together at the end as well (the shuffle at the last refrain at the end before the long note)

@YoshliFan3 жыл бұрын
As it requires a closed area to hold the air in that doesn't work. It's just sheer lung volume and training probably~
@naturally_roisin3 жыл бұрын
It's less breathing in general tbh. The idea of good breath control is breathing in minimally and exhaling said breath as slowly, powerfully and controlled as possible. Diaphragmatic support is key!
@enochhku2 ай бұрын
Circular breathing is a wind instrument technique used to achieve an uninterrupted flow of air and tone that surpasses the capability of a musician's lung capacity. Musicians execute this technique by using air stored in their mouth to produce sound from an instrument while simultaneously inhaling air into the lungs through the nose. Once the air stored in the musician's mouth runs out and their lung capacity is restored, they must seamlessly switch back to exhaling from their lungs through their mouth to maintain a continuous, uninterrupted tone. This technique is not applicable to vocalists, as their tone is produced within the throat rather than through the use of an external instrument.

Obsessed with this performance they did amazing and honestly I didn't think much of it when I saw it in my recommendations but I've been watching this on a loop for an hour now it's so good! Even to the messed up tie, I have no idea if that was intentional but it made the performance better and there's Roxie just amazing acting up to her movements are very puppet like. And that kid's voice is insane even though the production is for a high school and probably just prepared by high schoolers, this is my favorite performance of this. I definitely agree with the title, I even prefer this than the movie one.
