I just cleaned my 76 Scamp. It had mold on the Ensolite just like yours. I first removed the cushions and cut out the old carpet. I used a squirt bottle with a strong solution of powdered TSP with hot water. Sprayed it on and let it soak for five minutes. Then scrubbed it off with an old whisk broom; amazing how much came off so easily. Then rinsed it with a garden hose (!). Had to sweep out the accumulated water. Then sprayed the plywood floor with a squirt bottle containing anti-freeze mixed with water to prevent rot. Bleach would lighten the stains but it leaves that bleach odor for a long long time. I will prime the walls with Bullseye 1-2-3 primer and then paint. I will add a mildewcide to the paint.

Yes we ending up painting and sealing it after all the cleaning and air out. Definitely work but totally worth it. Our plan was to have it ready for this summer to go camping. Not sure if we will make it but we will try!

This reminds me of ole Doug Becker a friend of mine took on a decent job some 15 years ago and after a Bday party at his house he put the question to me if I would restore a truck for him which was one issue he found a 79 Chevy 3500 dually. That was fine. It was the day after the Bday party was the real party. He had found a 1961 Nomad in some barn about 100 miles away. He said his current Ford crapped out by this old farm and it took him a better part of year to get in contact with who owned this old mostly abandoned farm. A sweet little old lady owned it and told him he could have the camper & she had a title for it too. For 6 years Doug toiled on the 1961 Nomad giving me bit parts in restoring it and what a nice camper it turned into and I mean it morphed complete with German made Gigaset solar power package which fit perfect to a tee into the underside front storage area. I don't really excited about any campers but his choice of interior colors while keeping the outside it's beautiful OEM red white which was my job painting it with a Sikens epoxy system. Micore welding added the real touch which was a second electric brake axle to it and bias breaking system to the truck and trailer. His wife re-made and I mean re-made all the original cushions and the curtains in this beautiful civil war prints. It looks fantastic. Probably the only vintage camper I will ever love. Fitting getting modern appliances that was the real trick for Doug. The truck was just finished this past summer. New motor & trans new rockers cab corners and we added a canvas pop up to the bed. The tuck is painted to match with a dart arrow paint scheme which I plan on doing to a truck I own soon.

Judging by where it was stored, I would suggest replacing the frame and axle. The moisture created by leaving it on grass often causes these items to rust. The frames were under engineered to begin with to save weight and money.

As long as the frame is sound, these are amazing starting points. Strip it to the shell, power wash inside and out, and you have a clean slate to work with that won't have roof leaks in weird places. Just make sure all the penetrations are well sealed.

@@5StarGarage I believe Ray Olecko sold franchises to build trailers and Scamp bought one. Skamper trailer thought the name was a patent infringement and so they called them Honeys for a couple of years until the court deemed no conflict.
