I don't think the battery is causing it to shut down, although I do believe the battery probably doesn't hold much of a charge anymore. I think it is the power adapter that is bad, I used to use an older laptop and the battery was pretty much dead but it would work just fine if I kept the adapter plugged in.

Funny enough the battery seems to alter its charge status in these moments: 5:15, 5:20, 5:25, and 6:11.

Best solution I’ve found for these old Razer’s to keep them from randomly shutting down is to remove the battery and find a more powerful charger, like a 230w msi laptop charger with the same 5.5mm port and it would game fine with more than enough power to draw from cause I just feel like the stock charger that it comes with wasn’t enough

Managed to get mine for 300 refurbished which has a 980m and i7-4720hq and then bought a 1tb ssd for about 40. I have had it about 1 1/2 years now and the small problem which has occurred is the numbers/letters on the edges of the keyboard do not activate when pushed sometimes. Otherwise it still plays all games high on 1080p.

All games you have* I don't think you'll be able to run recent AAA games like Cyberpunk, Battlefield 2042, with high settings and 1080p. Looks like a nice laptop tho!

Ah, Razer Blades and battery problems. It seems like they've gone hand in hand for years now - to the point where Razer now places a fan directly within the battery. I know battery bloat has been a regular issue with this brand - but not being able to hold a charge is a common feature as well. Good luck on the RMA and thanks for a great video otherwise!

My Dell laptop from 2014 has a dead battery and still works flawlessly as long as it has wall power. I'm amazed that this high end computer won't work with that issue.

My 2021 Acer Nitro 5 was having the same issue of shutting down while 10 mins into any game once I opened it up and unplugged my battery to install my SSD, but then I unplugged and plugged the battery in again, and mine seems to be working fine again.

Have the exact same model bought as well from ebay. Same issues, maybe same seller, i don't know. I tried repasting the cpu and gpu, that didn't work. I tried changing the battery with a new one (after market one). That didn't work. I tried undervolting CPU and GPU. You guessed it, it didn't work. I tried changing the charger, didn't work. I tried looking all over the internet and old forums for a working bios updater (you can't flash it yourself, you need the official Razer program, thanks Razer.) for this model and it doesn't work either. If someone finds a solution, i'd be very grateful. EDIT: I FOUND A SOLUTION, i'm in a hurry now so let me know (to remind me) if you need it.

I managed to get 2 razer blades for 200$ each. One is 14 with a 6700hq and 1060 and the other is a 8750h with 1060 max q. Everything was fine. Just had to replace the ssd.

Just curious did you take the battery out and try a game just on wall power and see if the blacks out persist? You may have at least been able to run the benchmarks

My laptop has that same problem, a couple of minutes in gaming it shuts down without any warning, I bought it in a known store in a mall and has been in use with me for 3 years before I switched to a desktop. Tried every fix I know and it still didn't fix it.

I have had this same issue with the msi version (msi gs70)(2014)It just dies after getting to hot on gpu tried repasting gpu and cpu and it didn't work also I replaced the whole motherboard and it still has the same problem i ended up giving up and not using it anymore

I think the computer would of been fine if you disconnected the battery and run off the plug in cable only. Sounds like a 3rd party battery or just a very old original

For around $650 I saw a new gaming laptop with a 1650, 12450H, 8gb ram and 512 sad….. too lazy to check how it compares to this one with overall specs but seemed solid for the price when it was on sale tho regularly goes for $800 which isn’t as great a deal

I got a i5 11400h & 3050 Ti for 550$ G5 Gigabyte laptop. brand new on a cyber Monday sale. I think some are still out there but their going away. I even Seen a 3060 Laptop for 649$ .. but that was a deal of a lifetime on black Friday. It went away quickly. It went away in a couple days. Had I knew the 3060 deal would appear, I would have waited and bought it. But I am still happy with the 3050 ti. Some small Perks it has Over the 3060 machine. I recently upgraded to a 5800x/6900xt desktop for 1000$ .. this was more of a secondary machine. And the 50 Ti being a laptop only GPU attracted me. The Acer 3060 laptop was very big while the gigabyte 3050 ti is slim and thin.

Hi fellow toasties, anyone with ebay selling experience answer a quick question? I sold a laptop on eBay for a FAT discount, i sent the package with signature, the dude missed it and ive reached out to him 3 times to nudge him about re-delivery/pickup and he has not gotten back to me. They're saying they'll send it back to me in a few days, does this entitle them to a refund or is there somehow just to get it to them?

If he missed the delivery of it, that's on him. eBay can see the tracking and everything from their end if he makes a case. Often times, if it did get returned to you (the seller), just hang onto it. Take pictures of the box and everything to document that it's in your possession, but wait for the buyer to get back to you. eBay has been very good to me before where they will refund the buyer and eBay will pay for it as opposed to taking it from the seller (you), when it's an issue beyond your control. Whatever you do, don't let the seller bully you into giving a refund or anything until you physically receive and inspect the returned package. There are looks of people on eBay who will try to screw you over with tactics like that.

have u tried removing the battery or just leaving it to run itself down to load and than charging it to 100%? i have a laptop that is a decade old and i remember it basically bricking itself when the BMS went out of wack. but it worked wo the battery and started behaving normally once i discharged it and charged it back up again.

one thing... dont buy a laptop for gaming... i ve tried it 3 times ... the first one was a acer nitro i7 8750/1060 6gb ...2nd one was a lenovo legion i7 10750/2070 ....and the last one is a acer nitro i7 11800/rtx 3060... 2 died during us and the 3rd one is running but u cant use it for modern gaming... save money ... buy a normal desktop... and for the mobile part get a old ipad pro 10,5...

This particular generation of Razor laptops did not age well. Papa Linus bought these for his company during christmas one year and mentioned that in a few years half of the GTX 1060s in them went bad. Disabling it in Windows makes it more stable but you lose the gaming performance.

Have you guys tried to repaste it ? old laptops like that tend to be a toaster a few years later , or is it possible that Power Adapter is about to go ? judging how you set it to just "better performance" instead of "best", it could be a charger or overheating issue. in my case my Acer laptop's adapter just suddenly died without warning and buying a universal Huntkey laptop charger fixed the problem, havent had shutdowns since then ❤️👍

I actually had the exact same issue with my razer after I replaced the battery. Turns out I bent a pin on the motherboard's battery terminal. It took a substantial amount of prying and using my phone as a microscope to eventually bend it back into place and fix it. I believe this can be caused by second hand batteries that are poorly made and the connecters on them have little stubs that bend the pins. Hope this helps!

I had a 2017 Blade, last year of this chassis. It started doing this near when I went to upgrade to a new model. The reason why is because they used to draw so much power that it'd drain some from the battery when it went over a certain amount of power draw. The battery definitely is extremely weak, and when it tries to draw from it the voltage is so low it shuts down. They fixed it in the new chassis redesign. Hope you guys got your money back!

Bad battery can cause laptops to shut off when trying to draw more current than the power supply can provide. What's the wattage of the PSU? Look it up against 870m / 49x0HQ and compare potential max power draw.

I have this model, and had the same problem when I reinstalled from scratch. There were several things I tried, but the thing that fixed it was installing the proper old nVIDIA driver. Try 425.31.

I had the same problem with an Asus Laptop A550VQ, the battery went bad and you could detach it and with it on it used to do the same , lie about the procentage and shut down after some time , you just need to unplug it from the motherboard and use it with a charger and it will work just fine . I used mine like that for 4 years until I sold it a month ago. Great content , keep up the good work !

Guys. This is probably a thermal issue. XD Laptops are notorious to do that when the paste is all dried up. Get your refund but after that repaste it and it'll probably work like new.
