After over a year of looking for a new studio and workshop space for The Geek Pub we bought a property that will soon become our new home. This has been a hard secret to keep!!!
We plan on sharing some of this space with The 8-Bit Guy the community. In addition to housing our studios and workshop, we'd like to eventually host a retro-computer and arcade museum!

Woop woop. Congratulations. We moved into a ~750sq ft space last year and it feels tiny already. Since online shopping finally became "the" thing warehouse space is now at an all time high. That and business rates in the UK are suffocating. Can't wait to see you guys develop this. Keep us up to date! Loved the printer "side quest" :P

If you wanted to knock that one wall out in the reception area to make the meetup space larger, you should keep the reception counter there and just put a few beer taps on it haha. That way people get the "Pub" experience as soon as they step through the door

That HDMI cable hanging out of the ceiling reminded me: never buy a long HDMI cable. You can buy adapters to turn HDMI into two Ethernet cables and do huge runs for pennies.

While i am still disappointed in 8bit guy post paperclip incident? I am glad to see his positive example brought up on why build rather than buy. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the building. Edit' from a certain standpoint having the breaker box in the front room does make an amount of sense. The reception desk tends to stay manned and is an easy to locate spot in the building. Looks like it's at a place where person at the desk would get a call on walkie talkie or phone and them flip the appropriate thing. I also like your break room. Disagree hard with putting your thermostat on the network.

We couldn't just break up and dump a copier here it would have to be taken to a place that can handle e waste. Quite surprised the copier was not salvageable.

It wasn't perfectly good. It didn't work. Hence why they tossed it. Second we called several recycle companies to take it. They all wanted us to PAY THEM to take. North of $500 as the cheapest option. I'll email you next time I have something I can't get anyone else to take. ;-)

I actually really like the reception desk and the wood panelling behind it in the entry area, actually really nice looking. Should see if you can save it by moving the desk backwards or something . Can't be called geekPUB without turning the desk into a bar with sine optics on the wall behind it... Perfect for meet up and events 👌

Some nice comfy seating with tables and a really cook "GeekPub" neon sign, but if not a legit neon, they now do really nice looking LED 'Neons' in any shape/size/colour. Would be such a cool welcome and hangout spot. And avoid eating and drinking around all your expensive 'museum' equipment. Put a nice black tint on the windows with some really nice LED's under the desk/bar ledge with some nice vintage lamps scattered on the tables with the fancy looking decorative Edison bulbs for some warm, welcoming atmosphere. Could be such a killer spot for meet ups, couple of old arcade or pinball machines in the area too Just my 2¢ ✌️

I've done the hanging patch panel a couple of times at work when leaving offices. Not gonna rip out the patch panel or anything since they're cheap and that'd be a bit of a jerk move for the next tenant, but but definitely taking the rack itself. Congrats on the new building!
