Actually, a lot less then you think..... e.g. I was looking at an advert for a used R22 which was £140k about the same as a really nice car.. What would you rather have ?

@@john3Lee Aircraft cost is in ownership such as maintenance is where the expense is also helicopter training is expensive more then fixed wing. Decent R-22 is well north of 100k the ones that are less then 100k generally have engines that are nearing their hour limits.

I sympathize with anyone who suffers from motion sickness. What works for me is cut a Dramamine in half and take half every 4 hours. No drowsiness and no motion sickness. Congrats on the new helicopter.

I was a crew chief in the Army in the early 80s and my favorite memory was flying cross country to trade in our old technology helicopter for the newer technology helicopters. Ford Ord Ca. to Corpus Cristi Tx. I think we had 5 or 6 in our group.

Don't bank the R-44 to avoid birds as hard as you did in the Enstrom. Teetering rotors require gentler inputs.

Sorry, but that's just not true. Solo flight is Robinson Helicopters is only from the right seat...as explained in Robinson's pilot's operating handbooks. Which explains why right seat controls are not removable but the left seat controls are. It also explains why my helicopter has a starter button and governor controls for the right seat pilot but not for the left. PIC is right seat in a Robinson.

What is the net difference in cost between the Enstrom and the Robinson? What kind of financing and insurance do you get? Cool,can't wait to hear about flying across country. How long does it take, how many fuel stops, did Mrs Micah learn to fly by the time you landed in CA? Etc.

From watching Becki & Chris irrc Robinson R44 have 2200 hours or 12 years before major overhaul. So low hours is only half the story before a "full" rebuild is required.

Man those insurance requirements is what has kicked my butt in my own plane. So hard to find one in those smaller Niche made planes. I finally found one and begin my transition training in the morning. So glad to see ya back in the air again, can't wait for the cross country helicopter video!!!
