I've never been around a chisel plow but out of every video I have seen I've noticed that the Lemken implement always do a fantastic job. I know they are hugely popular in Europe. I think it would be a lot of fun to operate with any Lemken equipment. God bless y'all and just know you have a subscriber in NM that would love to be living the life you have in Idaho. Farm hard and pray harder!!! As quoted by Tony Fast

Nice to hear you like the Karat 10. With those basket rolles its quite easy to set up the leveling disc - check if the rolles are filled equally. Greetings from Germany.

Those Lemken implements are really sharp. You can tell that they put great deal of thought into their equipment.

They are great machines, and the nice thing is if we have input that could make them better they usually listen and implement it

We have had Lemken equipment since the 1980s. Their reversible ploughs are the best. When I first saw how the beam flexed wildly under load I was worried until it was explained that its meant to flex and is a sign of very fine grained high quality steel. Lesser ploughs don't flex but end up with stress cracks and need re-welding. Currently run a 12 furrow Vari-Titan behind a Quadtrac 620 which needs to be driven gently as the power is too much for the plough in hard conditions! We also have a Lemken power harrow drill combination with a front mounted seed tank blowing seed to the coulters behind a super strong 6m power harrow. Very high quality kit made to last. Best wishes from the UK.

You have a great channel keep up the great work I never knew anything about potatoes until I started watching your channel I grew up on a farm in Kansas and all we did was wheat corn Milo and soybeans so your channel really is cool because I didn't know what they had to do with potatoes I've never known anything about it

Same here. I grew up in a farm family in northeast Iowa. Everything was corn and beans. When I was twelve, we moved to north Arkansas. No agriculture, all that grew was limestone and flint rock. I missed farming. Everything was way different in the 1960's. I'm amazed with modern farming and love to learn about it.

That is an incredible piece of equipment. Very different than what I see on farms that plant primarily beans and corn. I bet that chisel would be great for them too. I see farmers having to go over the same fields twice trying to get what you're doing in one pass. Doubling fuel costs has to make a big dent in any profit, not to mention wasted time and effort before planting even starts. I'm a retired nurse, I'm not going to be in the fields, but I sure like learning about farming today, and the new technology is amazing. I especially like getting to "know" the families who are third, fourth, and even fifth generation on the same land their ancestors homesteaded. Something else I'll say with confidence. Children who are brought up in the family farm are overall just better, in every way. When you can see a video of a nine year old boy driving a tractor pulling a grain cart, and the value of the equipment is approaching half a million dollars, and doing as well as any adult, that's a testament for farm families. To bad every kid can't be brought up on a farm.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I know growing up on our farm was great. I was driving a tractor pulling a disk when I was 11 years old. I love your comment.

Looks like a nice machine, I guess maybe you save fuel since it's not as wide as others, or you use more fuel cause you're making more more passes, depends on how you look at it I suppose. We are running two MC5319 great plains disk rippers that are 24' wide, and we pull them with MT875 challengers. We use to run Ecolo Tigers but we figured we were using more fuel having to make more passes, so we went with a wider implement to cut down on the passes.

Fascinating. I've been following a couple other farming channels for awhile now (Corn/Soybeans and Cows/Corn/Soybeans), so now i wanted to see what Potatoes are like. You did confuse me at first with the "Rocky Mountain" thing, because why are they planting potatoes in Colorado? Isn't that an Idaho thing? Then i saw that you're actually in Idaho. Ah okay. And this sure ain't any small potatoes operation here!

On your dad's left temple is that a birthmark or melanoma in the making? I have a history with melanoma and would probably be dead by now if I hadn't continued my dermatologist checkups.

But if you left ridges the soil would be warmer and dryer sooner in the spring. Am I wrong?
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 4 ай бұрын
The Lemken equipment actually makes it so you can get in the field sooner because of how it prepares the soil we are usually about a week sooner planting our wheat in the spring because of the Lemken equipment

Always look at those tractors and wonder why they aren't pulling something 3X as wide.
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 4 ай бұрын
If this was 3 times wider you wouldn’t be able to pull it. This one has almost 30 shanks already.

That is far too narrow of a toy for that 9570R tractor. You'll just be wasting good HP. It needs to be at least twice that width, 40 feet or more. Just think of the additional passes that you will have to do in order to get the fields done. THINK WIDE OT GO HOME.
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 4 ай бұрын
They do have wider ones, but the thing with the Lemken equipment is it has to be pulled at high speeds. This one could only pull it at 7 miles an hour. Ideally, you could pull it faster than that. This one works up the soil, much better than most wide chisel, plows or rippers, because of how many shanks it has. If you had a 40 foot wide one of these, you would only be going like 2 miles an hour if you could even pull it at all.
