Will it run? Or did we purchase an expensive garage decoration? Join us as we hope for the best in getting this non-running sportbike back on the road.

Nice video. I have two suggestions though. First, when working on Japanese motorcycles, use Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) #2 phillips screwdriver because regular phillips screwdrivers will always strip out the screw head. Two, invest in a set of Vampire Tools "Vampliers" pliers. They are much easier to use to remove screws with stripped out heads. Good luck with this ZX-7R.

Yeah we cut strait to the stripped ones, they were already stripped from the previous owner, I guess we should have mentioned that! Stayed tuned

Great tip! Another good one if you do end up with stripped screws, its worth a shot just sanding the top on the screw head, normally this will revive the grooves enough for a grab, these were pretty stuck though!

@@Toyzwingarage I apologize, I didn't mean to imply that you all stripped the heads of the screws. I realize that a bike this old has had a few people fiddling with it over the years. I've just seen a lot of people make the mistake of not knowing that there is a huge difference between Japanese phillips screws and the rest of the world.

Remember when this was new and a coworker let me try one he had “built” (quotes because I don’t know what he did )…it was insanely quick ,I made a recent (at that time ,around 1997/98) gsxr 750 look like a 500..literally walked away without trouble any gear any speed ..even tried giving him a head start and blew by him within seconds …was difficult to keep front wheel down (I’m not a sport bike rider usually ) in first 3 gears ….am only up to u at store and am curious how this one ends up

If you are working on a Japanese bike invest in some JIS drivers cross head screwdriver doesn't work well ..

I stopped watching at the pliers on the screws.

I've got an extractor but there's no point in using it if you can get at it with pliers. All the screws were being replaced anyways so it makes no difference.
