Buying a truck and not using it for work is worse than having an old muscle car and not taking it out on weekends. I know it's cool Tim but it's just another truck put that bad boy to work the way it deserves to be ran. Just don't let anyone drive it other than you and your old man if you're worried about it.

I sure enjoyed the video. I recently purchased an older Inveco 440 Eurotech flattop cabover with small sleeper, at a government auction. It had been stored outside but when I looked at it, everything looked brand new except for the paint. It does have a couple things damaged in the interior, and slightly damaged fiberglass on the bumper, cracked windshield, and peeling paint. The driver side door handle was broken so it was sold as non-running and mileage unknown. I got it home and opened the driver side door and it has less than 30,000 miles. It has spring suspension, double frame, and full locking rear ends. It was built for the military but came white from the factory. It is marked Tanker, on the inside of the cab. I thought maybe I should fix it up as a show truck because there are very few Inveco trucks in America. This one was probably brought back from Iraq. However, I am thinking about cleaning it up, replacing the wheel seals, and purchasing a vac-water trailer and using it in the oil field to haul water. I have my CDL and tanker endorsement and I think that this truck would last a long time and make a lot of money over the next 4-5 years. Trump is saying that he wants America to start drilling for oil, so perfect timing. I thank you again for the video.

Ya know, back in the late 90's and early 2000s, I used to think of the FLD Freightliners as throw away trucks. All the big companies had a bunch of them. However, as I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate these trucks. I think they're some of the coolest trucks out here. They are getting less and less. Nice find!
@jimmycline47782 ай бұрын
I love cabovers the most but these to me are the best looking conventional trucks made! I love Freightliners over all of them
@BitterDemo2 ай бұрын
Funny about your remark about the Freightliners in the 60's all the way yo and including the 2000 year models. I refused to drive one in the winter because running Coast to Coast you would freeze to death unless you has a small heater. I hated them with a Passion. And the International Trans Star your legs were always sore from being cramped in that narrow leg space for a Big man. My choice was always Peterbilt's. Pittam's Trucking in it's time.

Tim, use the primer pump until it gets a little stiffer and you will hear the return valve open when it is done. Those filters were probably still empty since they were changed. If diesel is clear and you can see through it, it’s still good for use. It’s not the same as petrol going off after a few months and smelling bad.

I am sure that you checked this out. But before I teardown the transmission, I would check the return spring for the clutch pedal. Thought I heard you say that you were lifting up the pedal. I had several Freightliners over the years. It was always the spring broken. They are inexpensive at Freightliner parts house . Used to be about $5.00 . I learned to carry several in my tool box. Got a small box to keep them from being kinked. Also spayed heavy with WD-40. And put one of those sand packets to prevent moisture. That way they don't rust up. They are a very small diameter wire spring. Any way , it might save you a lot of money. And down time on the side of the road. I usually had to replace mine about once a year

6 TS Caterpillar motor is the engine prefix for the 3406E which was produced from 1993-1997 that can produce between 450-700 horse power. So you have an early 98 built Freightliner then or late 1997 which is a 1998. Beautiful FLD and one of the good years as I say. Gotta love the old FLD's/ Freightliners especially with a CAT in them.. Congratulations Tim on the great find and daaam she sounds good too..
